Driving up, 1 km outside the main town, Ferriere, toward the Province of Genoa, you find this restaurant. Happily, I can say it has something for every taste. It even has vegetarian dishes that can be made, for those who wish it, into a vegan dish! Some of their desserts are also vegan. They have a menu which includes Italian and regional specialties...for instance, "Pisarei Faso"...which are these tiny little gnocchi-like pastas with a tomato and bean sauce and is delicious. As a dessert, the "Tarte Tatin di Mele" which is an apple based pastry, was marvelous. In the evenings, they have delicious pizza of so many varieties. Not ala USA but Italian. The most lovely thing about the restaurant in this last little piece of Emilia Romagna, before entering into Liguria, is the ambience. While you eat, you are surrounded by nature and it's not just "eating outside"! It is eating hundreds of meters above sea level, surrounded by mountains and as the sun sets, we noticed how on the surrounding mountains, the colors evolved from light greens to deep greens...! Also, at this altitude, in the evenings the heat of the city just vanishes and it is so very comfortable. While you are eating, if lucky, families of ducks stroll by, having no fear of humans (or ending up on a plate), a local mule comes right up to those who are lucky, for a quick pat and the sound of the horses below make themselves known. Those who run the restaurant, for as long as you're there, want you to feel like family. We, indeed, met their entire family while there. They want you to feel like you're at home and will do their utmost to make you feel at home. Overall, between the food, staff and atmosphere, it is a delightful place to stop, relax, enjoy a very good meal and take in the atmosphere. You almost forget that just 60 km's away (36 miles, or so) the sea awaits. It is neither over nor under priced but fairly priced. I had seen reviews, some in Italian and some in French, but if you speak neither of those languages, here is one in English so if you find yourself in this corner of Italy, you'll know where to go! Peace out!
