I have just spent 4 weeks at one of my favourite holiday destinations Radisson Blu Golden Sands in Malta, here we have been staying for the last 10 years. The month was made more enjoyable by the hotel staff and especially some that I feel I should name. There are also some observations of changes good and bad that I have mentioned.

Firstly, Leo on reception was extremely helpful and always greeted us with a smile. Jonathan in Mokka, went the extra mile by ensuring that our coffees were made to our exact requirements and Manuel who served us in Swizzels was super efficient and his sense of humour made us laugh on many occasions. Mary our chambermaid was amazing, unobtrusive and excellent at her job. Henri, a legend at the hotel, gave us the opportunity each week to go on a personally recommended excursion. He even arranged with Jimmi the Executive Pastry Chef to have several desserts made to my husbands dietary requirements and always delivers more than client expectations.

One of the best places for the sea view and to grab a coffee or afternoon tea was the terrace at Mokka. However we have found that it has now become more of an outside office space where you can’t sit and relax without hearing one of the sales reps giving their spiel in various languages and at varying volume levels. The cushions that once made the seating more comfortable have also disappeared. The members lounge with its smart new refurbishment also has a sales area and the complementary afternoon hot drinks have now been relegated to ‘below stairs’.

The weather was quite mixed during our stay as was our experience of the animation team. There were some activities that were fun and well organised and others that were quite grim due to the temperament of the member of staff. We were on occasions left feeling that it was too much trouble to entertain us and once being told quite rudely that calling the daily bingo was boring. The atmosphere, thanks to the friendliness and personality of Vincenzo, was much lighter and inclusive at the weekends and the participation of the number of guests that joined in on Saturday and Sunday reflected this. I hope that next year the team has a more positive and youthful attitude as you really need a ‘people’ person like Vincenzo to ensure that guests can enjoy all the facilities that the animation provides.

We have for quite a number of years done the twice weekly yoga classes in the hotel and would thoroughly recommend Karen the instructor, however we have noticed that towels are no longer provided, the bottle of water appeared to be rationed and we had to ask for the mats to be cleaned.

We are always told that as members we are the backbone of the hotel but I think it’s the staff that hold the place together and I am counting the days til my next visit in 2019.

Room Tip: Ask for sea view, although the country view is still quite beautiful. The sunrise block has the bar below and can be noisy in the evening...

Honestly cannot say enough good things about this place, the staff, the facilities, the rooms, the restaurants, everything. We were lucky enough to be put in one of their 'heavenly suites' on the ten floor and it was amazing. It had a hot tub on the balcony which my 2 boys loved. I just wish we could have stayed longer. We will definitely return!

We received this offer from Azure holidays via Facebook and we grabbed this opportunity to visit Malta for the first time and stay in Radisson Blu at Golden Bay in Malta.
Very easy check in process and when we saw our room we were pleasantly surprised to see a one bedroom apartment at our disposal. Massive living room with an open plan kitchen and a good sized bedroom with big bathroom.
Excellent stay. Lavish layout of lots of food for breakfast ranging from variety of eggs, breads, beans, mushrooms potatoes, grilled tomatoes plus fruit cocktail, cereals, seeds & nuts, croissants etc.
We were literally spoilt by such lavish breakfast.
Excellent views of one of the best beaches of Malta and also private beach for the hotel at Golden bay!!!
Great swimming pools both outdoor and indoors plus so many other facilities like health club, steam, sauna, jacuzzi etc.
Right across the hotel a very nice restaurant called Apple Pie where we generally ended for a sumptuous dinner. Bus stop right across hotel, although bus service was not that great but Atleast we could visit different parts of the island once we were familiar with the time table of the buses.
Overall a very satisfying five star stay in a beautiful island of Malta.

Arrived on a promotional holiday to this hotel, it’s rated a 5* but more like a 4, room was ok clean or so I thought until going to the loo during the night only to find cockroaches on the bathroom floor, we’ve stayed in many hotels with different star ratings and seen cockroaches outside and around the premises but never inside our rooms, totally freaked us out, complained and was told it was normal as Malta is a hot country!! We were moved to another room but didn’t feel at ease for the rest of the holiday!!
The hotel food & drinks are expensive but use the Apples Eye across the road which was brilliant and the food much more reasonable.
As for the promotional timeshare talk, you are obliged to do it, 4 hours of chat about what you can afford to buy and if you have no intention of buying anything be firm and strong with your NO answers and they get the message soon enough!! Definitely won’t do one again but will return to Malta - but definitely not this hotel and it’s creepy crawly occupants!!!
