Wonderful visit. A very divine feel to the site.
Most of the visitors were elderly and it was not a commercialized touristic atmosphere that takes away from the holiness of the location.

We came here on a Friday, not a holiday. We only saw several people during one hour stay. It felt very peaceful to walk around the garden and the site.

This is one of the less visited shrines which is sad as it is lovely. It is what it is- a spring visited by Mary. Just stand there. About 15 million have stood there before you. It is peaceful and gentle. The grounds are extensive. It is just open for us to enjoy. Extensive parking. Clean toilets. A few coffee houses just outside entrance, A delightful place and very uncommercial.

The place has changed a lot for accommodation over the years, but the essence is still the same. A place for prayer and reflection, silence and like-minded souls. On christian holidays it can be crowded, but in winter it can be almost abandoned. There are many places to eat and drink. You can make relaxing walks in the woods.
Suited for wheelchairs and strollers. No income fee.
'Holy' water is free, but bottle are not (buy or bring your own).
For me a place with many childhood memories.

Our Lady of Banneux is one of Marian Pilgrimage sites in Belgium with the status of Holy See Approval; the other one is Sanctuary Our Lady of Beauraing, located 97km from Banneux. the apparition in Beauraing finished in January 1933, and in the same month and year started in Banneux to small girl namely Mariette Beco. it is really worth of visit if you’re into religious things. if you need more information, its website is well-presented with 6 languages.

the biggest well-known city in Belgium closed to Banneux is Liège (27km by car). depending from where you come, Banneux can be reached by train and then continued by bus. its website also explains the different route buses’ options. there are few small hotels in this village for those wishing to stay overnight just outside the shrine gate. the shrine also offers accommodation, but I’m not sure if it is opened for individual or small group like 2 or 3 people. but surely they accommodate big group. they can be contacted via website contact.
