We had a 15 nights stay in a suite. The rooms were spacious. The bathtub was a jacuzzi. Everything was well maintained, new and modern. The neighborhood is nice while within walking distance from the shopping area and other restaurants.
Our room was comfortable for a family of three and the hotel was modern, with plenty of free parking, friendly staff, yummy breakfast. It would have been a perfect stay if there hadn't been a wedding held there during our stay. We were in the newer tract across from the event venue, yet we could feel the bass of the music and hear the screams of the partygoers outside even with all of our windows closed. When I asked the front desk when the loud music would end, the woman was friendly and let me know it would be going on until 1 AM.
During the week, this is probably a great place to stay. On the weekend, it was disappointing, especially since we had booked the hotel as a place for our family to sleep, not because we were attending the wedding held there.
My husband and I have both been to Amsterdam before and decided on this occasion to explore a little further afield. We hired a car which we picked up from Schipol airport and found the drive very easy - great roads!
We stopped en route at the Keukenhof Gardens which only took about 20 minutes to get to from the airport but as these beautiful tulip gardens are only open to the public between March and June there was a long queue to get in it added another 45 minutes to the road trip! It is, however, well worth the stop off if you get the chance to visit - incredible number of tulips displays, 7 million blooms in the spring with a total of 800 varieties of tulips! We spent a couple of hours here then continued on to Zoetermeer which took less than an hour, we came off the main roads and ambled along through the countryside just to view the windmills along the way!
Zoetermeer was a central point for us to explore, the town itself is quite industrial but there is a small shopping area and some reasonable restaurants. We went to a concert at the Boerderij concert hall and this hotel was within easy reach of the venue and we liked the fact that it was situated on the edge of a local park area, Binnerpark.
The Hotel de Sniep is in the centre of Zoetermeer and easy to find with free parking outside the hotel. There was a wedding in progress when we arrived but the reception staff were very attentive to us and we were shown to our room in the new annexe building - our room was very bright and modern with the most incredibly comfortable bed that I've ever slept in! We stayed 2 nights here but used this as a base to explore and meet up with friends who live in Rotterdam.
Our room was immaculately clean and opened onto the park with double doors at the rear - there were chairs outside so you can have your morning coffee outside if the weather is nice and watch the heron which seemed to be a local resident when we were there.
Breakfast was ok, it was buffet style but guests were offered the option of fresh eggs if they wanted. We did not eat in the restaurant for any other meals whilst we were visiting but the menu looked good and if we had not been so busy visiting friends we would have been happy to eat in the hotel.
We were a little confused with the local tram system as we could not read or speak Dutch and ended up driving our hire car the 15-20 minutes down the main auto route into the centre of Rotterdam - very easy to find parking in the city but make sure you remember where you park your car (we didn't and spent a frantic 15 minutes searching a car park convinced the hire car had been stolen!)
Rotterdam is a fabulous place to visit and if you have never been here then make sure you add it to your must do places to visit whilst in Holland. The city is a delicious mix of old and new architecture with lots of fabulous cafes/bars.
We also explored the beautiful town of Gouda from Zoetermeer, only about 20 minutes drive - we were lucky to be there on Kings Day so the whole town was celebrating in the town centre.
If you are looking for a working windmill to explore then we would recommend going back to Amsterdam Schipol airport and driving to Haarlem which is very close to the airport - Haarleem is a medieval city with shops and restaurants as well as a very picturesque working windmill which is open to the public, well worth the clamber up the ladders if you are fit enough to explore.
We would definitely recommend this hotel as a central place to stop off at if touring around Holland.
We stayed over three nights and found the hotel to be very comfortable, clean and spacious. The beds are to die for. Breakfast was really good. The whole experience of this hotel is something you will never forget.
I had to be in Zoetermeer for bussines and was adivesed to take a room in this hotel. I was together with my wife and the location next to the city center was perfect for her. The reception was very friendly and relaxed. They upgraded us to a bigger room and we where just speechless. We had a wonderful stay in this hotel, perfect room, good breakfast and above all friendly staff
