Rooms are good, location is tops (right by the beach!) -- although, if you want to do more stuff in the village, it might be smart to keep that in mind. Hotel has a few restaurants, they organize stuff for kids too. Keep in mind that the hotel can be quite pricey. Plan in advance with booking.

Room Tip: Go for the suites, which are owned by individual people (and rented out by the hotel)

Try to avoid any of the Westcord hotels. Seen from every imaginable angle its clear that these places are run as self centered, revenue oriented cash generators. How far can a hotel drift away from creating a great guest experience? Really the only benefit of Seeduyn is its unique location.... let's hope this business is in such a bad shape its sold soon to a true hotel entrepreneur to create a warm and welcome guest experience build on a proud team focussed on meeting if not exceeding guests needs, surprising guests if possible. As it is today, you will not meet any of this, how sad..... just stay away

Room Tip: Stay away..

I last stayed here 15 years go, so it was nice to go back. The hotel is located on the opposite side of the island to where the town and harbour is. As far as I'm aware it is the only hotel located directly on the beach and that's why we chose it (there are some other hotels looking out over the sea from the town side but no beach). It's only a 5 minute bike ride to the hotel from the ferry and the luggage is collected and taken directly there. There is also a bus to take foot passengers. If you don't have your own bike the hotel has an arrangement/discount to rent bikes or you can rent one as soon as you come off the ferry.
As people have mentioned before the hotel does need updating, particularly the Reception area and the bedrooms and it also looks a bit dreary from the outside. However, the staff more than make up for it. We paid extra for a sea view room which was really worth it as you can hear the waves on the beach if you keep your window open at night which I love. The room had a nespresso and a kettle but only paper cups rather than mugs which I prefer and could have done with a couple of glasses for water. The beds are singles pushed together which is always a little disappointing but this is what a lot of hotels seem to do these days.

The hotel has 3 restaurants, the Brassery , Entre 2 Mers (a la carte) and the Badhuys (being renovated in the coming months) which is on the beach. It's easy enough to go into the town by bus or bike but we were a bit lazy and ate all 4 nights at the hotel - twice in the Badhuys on the beach which was lovely and relaxed and also nice in the day to have a drink and watch the waves. In the Brassery I have to mention Andries, who was just so helpful and friendly and made the evening for us, one of the nicest waiters we've ever met. As work was being done in the Brassery on our last night guests could eat in the 2 Mers restaurant but with the Brassery menu and Willy the Maitre D and the young waiter (didn't get his name) were also impeccable. So professional but friendly, we had a lovely evening.

There are other facilities which is what you pay for at this hotel - swimming pool, spa and beauty centre, horse riding facilities, bowling. We didn't use any of these as we just like being by the beach but it would be useful for families. There is also a very nice guest lounge with books but it would have been nice if there had been a few board games.

Overall, a great location and lovely staff and it will be amazing when it's been renovated,

Make sure you get a room with a view of the sea and you'll be in for an entertaining view of the beach, the sea and the ships (both commercial and leisure) passing by. The room we had was spacious enough with bath and shower, but lacked a fridge.
Good wifi and television (incl. BBC and Eurosport).

Ideal spot from where to explore the island (cycling, walking) and a free bus service over the island. Avoid late August unless you like pop music (festival).

Ideal also for families with small children.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of the sea

It's the hotel with the best location on the island. Breakfast is good and the staff is pleasant. The beach restaurant is nice as well. On the downside the hotel needs a general overhaul. The 270Euro family suite was scruffy and old. Stains in the carpet and run down furniture. Nice terrace but with lounge chairs you wouldn't want to get close to as dirty as they were. When I needed to iron a shirt I had to pay half a euro for an iron which seems a bit strange when you pay 270 euro for one night. I would return because of the location of the hotel but I very much hope that the hotel will be renovated soon.

Room Tip: Ask a room with a view on the beach but far away from the noisy air fans of the kitchen.
