Hotel Studios Phenicio Montrouge, some review as Phenicip Montrouge.

We booked this hotel on Booking.com and it was quite inexpensive during the Euro Soccer this summer, and we, family of 4 needed a place to sleep with basic amenities, such as beds, a fridge, a shower/toilet, sink, cooktop. We are assigned to an apartment at 7 avenue de la marne in Montrouge on the 4th floor building 9 apartment 190.

My review is based on studio apartment that we were assigned and general reception experience.

1. It was located near Pizza Hut, Dominos, a small market, and a Contact Marche (closes at 8pm) and restaurants and bakeries.
2. Elevator in the building, although it is efficient size.
3. Balcony space, although small.
4. Good enough for sleeping. Folding chairs with a table was vey efficient way to use the space.
5. Enough toilet paper rolls , dish washing detergent, 2 small soap, a sponge, and a dish towel were provided. A couple of shampoo and conditioner were provided but not enough.
6. Good fast internet. Password is on the wall.
7. Bottom bunk beds were probably full size and enough for 1 adult plus 1 13 year old on the bottom, and 1 adult and 8 year old on top.
8. Had a washer (Laundry) but we did not use it, so I do not know if that works.
9. Kitchen has a cooktop has 2 electric burner, sink, microwave, a coffee maker, a pan and odd numbers of plates, and other utensils. You may not be able to full cooking, but possible.
10. Good security. The first door to the building has a magnetized key. Find a black magnetizer on the wall and touch it with your magnet key. It clicks.

1.10-15 min walk from the reception to the apartment with children and luggages.
2. In between three stations: Marie de Montrouge (line #4), Malakof Rue Etienne Dolet (line #13 - closest to the reception), and Malakof Plateau de Vaness (line #13) which had many restaurants, Saturday indooor wet market and outdoor flea markets, seriously wonderful bakeries, and shops and a supermarket. We loved walking to this station.
3. Apartment window is facing other apartment window. You see others and they see you if your curtain is open.
4. Could get noisy from other residents till late depending on the day, but if you are dead tired, it does not matter.
5. YOU NEED TO ASK FOR ENOUGH TOWELS FOR 4 PEOPLE. I was glad to ask if there were 4 at the check in. They gave us 2 extra.
6. No hair dryer so bring your own.
7. There were some hangers but not enough for a lengthy stay to unpack.
8. Space limited. Only 2 large suitcases can be open. We needed to juggle.
9. Needs better cleaning, especially the comforters.
10. Booking.com said that a free shuttle will transport guests to the studios, but it was never offered. (see below for the fine print - I highly recommend to read this especially about reception hours)

Fine Print from the Booking.com hotel site:

The studios are located at a different address than the reception. A free shuttle will transport guests to the studio. It is just a 4-minute drive.

Please note that check-in is at the following address: 38 avenue Augustin Dumont, 92240, Malakoff.

Reception opening hours: 09:00 to 21:00. If you plan to arrive outside these hours, please contact the residence in advance in order to receive keys and access codes.

Please note that late check-in is possible upon prior request and is subject to availability.
Guests are required to show a photo identification and credit card upon check-in. Please note that all Special Requests are subject to availability and additional charges may apply.

Reception experience:
1. We got there around 10 am and they let us check into our apartment. (Nice!)
2. They are not concierge, so some questions they could not answer. (Finding things on your own)
3. Easy check in, easy check out.
4. They will store your luggage after your check out.
5. Reception hour NOT 24 hours. It is 9 am to 9 pm.
6. We wish they explained how keys work at the check in.

Hotel's site says that they have 15 properties/apartments, but seems like have more from the peg board of keys. Some people may get nicer and spacious one, others get efficient one. So maybe hit or miss?

We were fine with what we got. You may consider cost of transportation and travel time to the city.

I often see lost travelers waiting mournfully outside the office of this "hotel"-- actually, what seems to be the office for the owner of many studios. The office is closed at night, leaving the travelers locked out with nowhere to go. Some have had to go to another hotel. As this is not the center of Paris, it is not super lit or very crowded at night-- probably a little daunting for a traveler on their own on a low budget who needs to find another place to sleep.

This is not a Hotel; there's not one reception, cleaners, and hotel services. It's like a hostel, but before we arrived we didn't know that.
It's not clean and we needed to make the check-in in a place far from our room. The beds are really discomfortable, and the bedclothes smell it's not gut.
Many hostels are so much better than this 'Hotel'

Warning! Warrning!
This place is a total frod. Me and 2 friends booked this hotel for 8 nights during Roland Garros. When we arrived it was a smal desk that checked us in and then told us we needto walk to our hotel. It was a 25 min walk. Not so fun when you just arrive and have your bags with you. When we booked it was very specific that free wifi was included. But apperantly this was only at the check in desk 25 min away from where we actualy lived.
So no wifi all week...plenty of charges on our cellphones from Sweden. When we finaly get to our room its the worst dump ever. Mold and fungus evrywere! No toalettpapper. We booked this place for three guys. At the room we dont see 3 beds. We see 2 beds. One of them slightly wider. Me and my buddy would have to sleep spooning...
It really smells bad. No elevator, 5 stores up. Really bad conection from the area to Rolland Garros, even if it looks close on the map, the metro is not direct at all.
Pizzeria outside was cosy.
I dont recomend this hotel at all. The reason im righting this is so you dont make the same misstake we did thinking it looks good on the pictures and its kinda cheap. But the time and taxi mmoney you will end up spending is way moore. PICK A BETTER HOTEL IF YOU GOING TO ROLAND GARROS! Duroc is a much better chois of place if you giong to Roland Garros!

Booked on line several months prior. We like others arrived at reception tired and in need of a good sleep after long flights. Only to be given keys and a paper map advising our apartment/studio was about a 10 minute walk.
The room is the size of a lunchbox. Suited to one person only not a family of 4.
Many reasons not to stay
- power points not working
- musty smelly showers
- super uncomfortable beds
- 10 min walk to reception
- no airconditioning

No recommended at all
