Description: Hotel Casalta is a small hotel carved out of a Longobarda fortress in the heart of Strove, a community of Monteriggioni which is a city famous not only for its perfectly preserved beauty but also for its importance as a point of passage for the pilgrims of Francigena Route. Perfectly renovated and situated in a optimal position to visit the primary attractions in Siena, Florence and Chianti, it will allow you to experience Tuscany as you’ve always dreamed. All the living areas are furnished with knowingly conserved period pieces. Guests will have the feeling of being taken back in time without, however, having to give up modern comforts such as wi fi and air conditioning. In the evening you can enjoy spectacular sunsets and breathtaking views of Val d’Elsa, with its velvety colors and numerous shades of green all the way up to the Sienese hillside horizon, allowing you to visually embrace this marvelous land which is full of history, scents and unique flavors – the same which you’ll find in the dishes that the Ristorante Casalta offers. The owner’s passion (Sommelier A.I.S.) for wine and good food will help you discover the most interesting wine pairings in order to exalt the flavors of every course. In the morning, the inebriating smells of freshly baked pastries will overwhelm and lead you to a rich buffet of homemade cakes, jams and local honey as well as pecorino cheese, salami, eggs and much more for breakfast – obviously accompanied by fresh juice and hot beverages prepared on request. The Casalts staff will be your point of reference for suggestions and ideas to help you discover the beauty of the splendid surroundings.

Hidden jewel within a small b&b hotel. Great handmade pasta. I recommend the Antipasti platter “Toscano”. Very lovely decorated outside seating. Enormous selection of local vines.

We were staying very close by so thought we would try this restaurant.
Lovely welcome, friendly staff & good service.
The food was really tasty, we both had the steak with rustic potatoes as a side.
At the end of the meal we were offered Limoncello which was so delightful it was served chilled.

Stayed there while doing Via Francigena. On check in owner immediately advertized restaurant saying how wonderful it was and if I didn't believe him then it had great reviews on tripadvisor. As it is only place in village for evening meal there was no choice. Owner knows it is only place and charges accordingly. Food is reasonable but no cheap options

Casalta is a lovely restaurant in a tiny village with bags of atmosphere.

The service is superb and there is a good menu of Tuscan food, with an extensive and reasonably priced wine list.

Not a “world class” venue for me, but definitely in the “very good” category!

It can be something of a risk to eat in the place where one is staying, particularly if the small village only has a couple of eateries. Not this time. This wonderful place is world class. The owners serve alongside other staff to give great, sensitive, personable service. The menu is imaginative. The baby octopus ravioli an absolute stunner. The pici perfectly cooked. Great range of local wines, including some available by the glass. Such a great find.
