We stayed a week at the Hotel Italia and enjoyed every minute of our time there. From the moment we arrived until we left we were treated like family!

This hotel was originally the home of a nobleman many centuries ago. It has been a small, family-owned hotel for generations and Lella, the current owner, grew up there.

Lella’s warmth and hospitality is evident all throughout the place. She made us feel welcome every time we saw her, despite the language and cultural barriers between us.

The hotel served as our base to hike and explore villages throughout the Umbria valley. It was a delight to come back to the Hotel Italia every afternoon and know we were in for a delicious dinner at the restaurant there.

Some may say the hotel doesn’t have all the amenities we’re used to having in the States (bar, pool, room service, etc). If however you’d like a chance to experience authentic Italian hospitality and food, look no further than the Hotel Italia.

Travelling with a singles group recently. I'm afraid that the Hotel Italia is a little behind in it's facilities. A scruffy area puporting to be a bar, wooden chairs around a large table! No ice for drinks. Very 'scratch' food and the breakfasts a hark back to the days of 'continental'. But worst of all was the 20 minute walk from the bus at Porta Romana to the hotel, as that was the nearest the tour bus could get. The luggage was collected by the hotel. Agreed, a very good area behind the hotel with some very good restaurants.

This hotel is in a great location..... minutes from the train station, a grocery store and a few restaurants. We stayed here on a 7 night Road Scholar trip and our group of 21 were all happy. The included breakfast was not fancy but adequate AND a cup of cappuccino was included!! Our room was spacious and well appointed.....cleaned to perfection every day. We had included dinners in the restaurant for 5 of our 7 nights. All were good. This is a family owned hotel and has been for awhile.....we were treated like family. I highly recommend this hotel.

I stayed for seven nights here as a part of a group of 15 on a Road Scholar hiking trip In Umbria Italy. Really loved the hotel and the service. A great Italian breakfast was included in the rate each day. The location is right off the main town center. Our group also had dinner here each night after our day of hiking and visiting small towns in Umbria with our Italian tour leader. Foligno is a great little city in Umbria with fun activities in the town center. If you’re looking for a good place that allows short sightseeing trips around Umbria this is it. We visited Assisi, Spello, Montefalco, Speleto and Perugia from here. The workers are all very friendly and accommodating and know enough English to allow communication with my basically English only...

Our large two story apartment was an unexpected surprise. Room 209 was made up of two single beds and ensuite with spa downstairs an king bed with its own bathroom. Both areas had a TV. The Via Del Furno restaurant offered a substantial evening meal for pilgrims travelling on the way of St Francis. Breakfast consisted of cereals, yoghurt and pastries.

Room Tip: Room 209 would be great for families or two couples.
