Owner description: The Museum of Nursing History in Kolding is the only professional museum on nursing in Denmark. The museum conveys the history of nursing and health care from the Middle Ages until today. The museum is housed in an old tuberculosis sanatorium with a beautiful view over Kolding Fjord. Here you can see how a hospital ward was arranged and how nursing was done.

A beautifully laid out museum, covering every aspect of nursing from the 1800s onwards - from hospitals to training to social life to overseas involvement to wars: displays, artefacts, surgical instruments, uniforms, badges, operating theatres, straight jackets, even nurses' scrapbooks of their adventures. Very reasonably priced (and a huge discount for pensioners!) and beautifully located on the shore of Kolding fjord. Highly recommended! (One slight annoyance - although admittedly a very unfair comment, given that most British museums only have explanations in English - is that the majority of the descriptions are only in Danish.)

We found this museums looking at the things to do list on trip advisor. The history of nursing, and the use of the building g as a sanatorium is explained in an excellent Manor using models, costumes and much memorabilia. I loved it.

Wow, impressed with the museum, not just because I'm a nurse, but for all the historical pieces in the museum. There was the nicest woman working in there on a Sunday who was a true gem. She is a retired surgical nurse that is passionate for nursing I could tell. Once a nurse always a nurse. Just a place that was a refreshing surprise to stumble upon.

Good collection of medical aids, instruments and other items from old hospitals. Very interesting, and you will feel privileged by the things we have nowadays.
