Overall we throughly enjoyed our stay here. While the property is not beachfront we found it incredibly relaxing to be able to work amongst the protected marshes, and spend time relaxing by pool. It is a short and very nice walk to the beach through the marshes, and you may even encounter some wildlife along the way.

The rooms are very well appointed, and provide excellent sitting and dinning areas if you wanted to spend more time in your room. The bed is exceptionally comfortable.

They have bikes available for rental and we used those to tour Byron Bay as there are generally great bike tracks leading to most of the locations of interest.

We had an issue with housekeeping that threatened to ruin our holiday, but ultimately the management did an excellent job at rectifying the situation.

There are one or two people they could do with removing from front line duties, and definitely some of the staff in the restaurant could do with training in smiling.

But overall the setting is magnificent, and the management are obviously very passionate about their offering. I would highly recommend staying here.

Dear SeanS,

Thank you for your review and overall happiness. I’m always interested in negative comments and as our goal is to provide the highest standards and service, we are only as good as the weakest link. At this time of the year we rely on many casual staff to cover the busiest period and I can only presume it was perhaps one of those who let you ( and the resort) down. Nonetheless, achieving perfection is certainly the goal and we continue to try harder. Your comments are well accepted and thank you. Kind regards,
John Parche- General Manager

The Byron at Byron offers a couple of strengths: Very nice location in a path of rainforest with a stunning beach nearby, very nice rooms (the nicest being romantically located in the forest), a solid restaurant and very good service. The best beach location we have been to in Australia.

Dear Ferdinandhass,
Appreciate your kind TripAdvisor review and if I’m correct, you are visiting Australia. At this time of the year, high season prevails, so the Resort offers a break from the chaos of the outside world. Delighted you felt the service lived up to your expectations as that is the main ingredient towards success or failure. Enjoy your Australian travels and hope you continue to discover other great resorts. Kind regards, John Parche, General Mgr

An exceptionally lovely experience, stayed for 5 nights in early January. The rooms are very large and comfortable with well equipped kitchenettes. The child free area was very private, quiet and peaceful. All staff throughout the resort couldn’t be more helpful.

Sufficiently away from Byron Bay town yet within easy walking distance to Tallow Beach and a short drive down to Broken Head National Park. We caught the free shuttle to the centre of Byron for restaurants and bars. The resort’s restaurant was fantastic on the 2 nights that we dined there. I think I’ve found my new favourite Byron Bay accommodation!

Byron Bay as a whole is a hippie beach wonderland. From the reviews of The Byron and the way it presents itself online, I expected a bit more. Don't get me wrong- the resort itself is nice, it's rustic. They have recently redone the look/feel of the lounge area and are working on a renovation, but for the price we paid, you really expect to have better service. I felt bad for a lot of the staff as they just seemed overworked. The restaurant had more than enough staff, but to check in, get any help at the desk, get a drink, just not enough for a resort and its clientele. Some simple niceties like a drink upon check in, fun happy hours, a more social and upbeat atmosphere (but staying high end) would serve it well. Of course there's so much to do in actual Byron Bay and this is a nice retreat, but they could do so much more. They also didn't sell enough the close proximity to its own private beach. THAT WAS FANTASTIC... and something that was really the highlight of the trip. You really do need a car for visiting Byron Bay as their shuttles are not frequent enough; however, if you feel like having a bunch of evening cocktails, both ubers and cabs were readily available and only about A$10-15. We really had a great time, but for spending $550 per night+ and on our honeymoon, it didn't wow us. It was a very unique property, but could really amp up the customer service and feel goods.

Truly enjoyed our time at this resort. Some of the best iced coffee I have ever or will ever have. Beautiful renovation to the rooms and is just a hop skip and a jump to Tallow beach, an unspoiled and dog friendly Byron Bay beach.
