This hotel is situated on a busy and sometimes noisy street in Paceville which is an area full of bars, restaurants, music clubs and strip clubs. We chose a courtyard room, no balcony, which was quiet and there was no late night noise from the street. The whole area is undergoing a massive transformation with building work on virtually every street and jackhammers could be heard on the go from early morning until dusk.
The George hotel has a very good reception, bar and public area and a nice and bright breakfast area in the glass covered courtyard overlooking the bar. The breakfast was very good and a chef was on hand to cook eggs and omelettes. All the hotel staff were very good and extremely helpful, so all these aspects of the hotel are 4 star in my opinion.
Now the 3 star bits
We were in room 412 - The corridor to the room was a bit battered in places (like much of Malta!!) The room is large with a small sofa ,very comfortable bed but the room was let down by the cheep looking furniture, shabby looking carpet and blinds, wonky light fittings and the bathroom. There was mould on the bathroom walls (see photo) and the shower door only opened 400mm (see photo) so it would be impossible for large people to actually get into the shower.
The Wi-Fi is good and free which was a plus.
The hotel is in quite a central location - bus stop to Valletta 5 minutes walk, marina 5 minutes walk, beach 10 minutes walk, St Julians bay 10 minutes walk. Restaurant, bars and clubs - all around the hotel 0 minutes walk!
All in all not a bad hotel and we would not rule out staying there again as it offers good value for money

Room Tip: Courtyard room to avoid street noise.

Perfect Room and a really rich breakfast. Polite and helpful personal made me enjoy my staying at any time. Even I have been solo it seems, that this place is also very fine for families with children.

The hotel has a very well-kept atmosphere. The rooms and with usable areas like SPA, roof terrace, in and outdoor pool are outstanding. The staff is polite and courteous. Short distances to the public transport network, Night Life, and much more.

We came on holiday for 2 weeks and stayed here. The hotel staff put their customers first all of the time, the hotel itself needs a bit repair work but it's fine for a business type trip. We had a leak in the first room we were in so were moved to another, after not sleeping well in this room due to noise we realised the balcony door was broken. They moved us again and thankfully we found no issues. The staff couldn't have been apologetic enough and they got the repair guys straight in to sort the issue. For room service they order in from New York Best across the street and they do the yummiest chicken burgers. The drinks service upstairs could be better, it was often slow but the staff were excellent. The spa facilities were great but the services were a big disappointing. I had a manicure and the quality was shocking and a massage I received was just a bit odd. I didn't get a chance to go to Miro but by all accounts it was excellent so I'm gutted I didn't get to go. The lobby bar was great, we often used it as a meeting place with our friends from other hotels as it was so spacious. The drinks were reasonably priced and the wine and cocktail list were decent. The breakfast for me was slightly disappointing but that's because I was there for 2 weeks and wouldn't usually eat that kind of food.
