We stayed for a night at this hotel during transit, courtesy of Sri Lankan Airlines. It is close to Negumbo beach, but not on the beach. The entrance is right at street level and look somewhat tacky. It is not a fancy hotel by any means but I suppose it is ok for the money. I would give it three stars. The airlines had given us coupons for lunch and dinner. The restaurant / dining area is again right off the street and open to public. Ambience of the dining area is not great. Though the menu had listed a variety of options, our meal coupon provided by the airlines gave us no choice but a fixed menu of rice, curry and a small salad. I did not find it very appetizing. Then for dinner we were offered exactly the same thing and when I informed the waiter that I would rather walk up the road to some other restaurant, she discussed with the manager who agreed to switch rice with noodle. We did not have breakfast there as we had to catch an early morning flight. We were given a room on the third floor. As there are no lifts we had to climb up two three flights of steps. The room had a bit of sea view from the front veranda. The room was by no means fancy, but adequate and fairly clean. There is a good sized swimming pool and the hotel is within walking distance to the beach. There are a lot of better hotels and restaurants within walking distance. Colombo city is around 45 minutes drive from here. The front office staff was courteous, but the waitress in the restaurant seemed disinterested and detached.

We stayed here one night after arriving in Sri Lanka and is close to the airport. The staff are wonderful and very friendly and the food great! We had dinner and the curry was wonderful. There is a nice pool and while the rooms are typical and basic they are clean. My room had alternate hot and cold water from the shower and some of the power points didn't work but I'd certainly recommend staying here.

We chose Paradise Holiday for its street appeal. The place seems to be popular with the tourists, there was outdoor seating and later there were two guitarists and a drummer doing the rounds of the tables, playing anything from old Eagles and Bob Dylan songs to traditional Sri Lanka melodies. It has four tables outside with comfortable wooden seating, but these tables were all taken, so we resorted to the old plastic chairs and wonky tables nearby.
We ordered Champagne, but they only had spumante, so two of us walked down to the local grog shop. We were eventually shown a menu which did not look terribly exciting, serving only so called western food, so we elected to wait for the buffet, scheduled to begin in 15 minutes. The buffet was all right, but not a great variety. There was noodles potatoes and rice, also some boiled vegetables. The chicken was tender, but the fish was dry and the beef was inedible. Desert was banana fritters with vanilla ice cream, no other choice.
Maybe the a la carte menu is better, I can´t say. Despite the average food spread we all enjoyed ourselves. It is a nice setting and the company was great... just don´t expect great food or good service.
