I'd say that you can easily spend the entire day there walking different trails, trying to spot some animals. If you don't have an entire day to spend, then just pick one of the trails to walk. As far as the animals are concerned, you will have to keep your eyes and ears open in order to spot them.

Headed out to Tower Hill. Hasn't changed in years. Walked around, did the peak, trees a bit overgrown for the stunning views. A couple of cute wallabies on the Lava Tongue walk. Black swans floating around. I'll definitely go back in spring.

Plenty of car parking, wonderful walks, masses of kangaroos, emus, swans, ducks and birdlife, occasional koala sighting, stunning scenery in extent volcanic crater - and all free. Good anytime of year with most wildlife early morning and late afternoon. Whether you choose to just drive through slowly, stop for a short while and brief walk, or spend all day exploring the area, there are plenty of options.

Only 5-10 minutes' drive from Warrnambool, and what a lovely spot. Kangaroos, emus, koalas - all literally right there in front of you. If you are lucky you may spot an echidna, or a shingle-backed lizard, on one of the walking trails as well. Snakes too, yes.
This attraction really needs some promotion and development of the indigenous heritage aspect, also the visitor centre could be greatly improved. But still it's beautiful and unique.
