“A great autumn get away.”

What a great stay we've had in Pont-Rhyd-y-Groes! I visit Wales with my wife and her family a couple of times every year and usually stay more north around Snowdonia area. As our first time in the area we weren't disappointed! Luckily being regular visitors to Wales the every day torrential rain didn't put us off and we're still able to get out and about and visit some new places.

The Halfod estate was absolutely beautiful, would recommend to anyone looking for a walk. And when we did get a break of afternoon sun we took a trip the New Quay, a lovely small tourist town with the best fish and chips.

As for the cottage, we couldn't have asked for any better for our stay. It had more than we could ever have needed. As well as Sky tv, dvds and wifi for when the weather was really bad. And was perfectly warm, comfy and cosy for the cooler autumn evenings.

“A little bit of Welsh Heaven”
Reviewed 3 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

Over a busy frenetic summer we had longed for peace and quiet, we had craved cosy warmth, fantasized about stunning autumnal scenery, beautiful breathtaking walks and quiet reflection time. All of these we found at Ty Cariad. The cottage itself is beautifully, thoughtfully decorated, loved and cherished. The local area offers everything on our tick list. Walks through the dreamlike Hafod, Forestry Commission, a short drive away to coastal heaven, Borth, Steam train rides through The Vale of Rheidol, Sunday roast, huge and scrummy at the local Miners Arms. Lovely!! We miss it so much!

“Marvellous”

We stayed her in February half term. The cottage is beautifully restored and is so comfortable and homely. As soon as you enter it is welcoming. The kitchen is a delightful mix of retro style and practicality. The cottage is stocked with everything you could need and the beds are the most comfortable I've ever had the pleasure to sink into. The views, particularly from the master bedroom are delightful.
The road to the cottage is very steep and twisty and to be honest I'm glad the weather was fair when we were there. Its possible to walk to the local village where I'm told there is a lovely tearoom and the local pub, The Miners does an amazing huge gammon steak. The walks in Hafod are stunning and its about a 13 mile drive to Aberystwyth.
All in all its a beautiful cottage in a wonderful location and hopeful we will return soon.
