We stayed at Taksila for 3 nights in the best of the standard rooms called GRAND DELUX something I think, 1400B per night nett incl. breakfast and wi-fi. The suite we looked was better with a much better bathroom. The room was complete with just about everything you could need, and had more in it than 5 star hotel rooms. It's not often you find plates, bowls and some utensils and a selection of perhaps 20 DVD's. The hotel foyer is good and the staff are pleasant. The rooms are well furnished and the bed was comfortable.I believe the hotel is let down by the breakfast, especially for foreigners There is no fruit juice and no cereal except some star shaped things which I don't have a name for, and the coffee is not good.Thai people would probably find it adequate. The other negative is the general cleanliness which is not good enough and by the state of the bathrooms. The bathroom was small and very badly constructed with no separate shower. The standard of the workmanship was very poor with grouted joints all black with mould and nothing fitting properly. The shower in the bath is at chest height and in the morning took about 20 minutes to run hot which ended up in a terrible waste of water. We stayed at Maha Sarakham because there are no decent hotels in Kalasin but that meant we had a dangerous drive at night back to Maha....More
