I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful this restaurant is. We stumbled upon it as we were staying in a AIRBNB around the corner, and Googled "Restaurants Near Me". Even if it is not anywhere near you, I strongly recommend that you make the journey.
Like many in Italy, it is a family run business. One brother in the kitchen, another brother running the floor, the sister making the most wonderful tiramisu, and the mother making sure everything is running smoothly. On our first visit the chef greeted us and sat us at a table in their lovely outside area as it was a warm evening. Without seeing a menu, he asked us if we were happy to take his recommendation for our dinner that evening. Of course we said yes. Over the course of the evening he brought us out an absolute feast of the most beautiful food imaginable. We ate and drank like royalty, and had a great time talking with the two brothers. In the end we left with full bellies, and had paid less than the price of one course in some high street Italian restaurants back in the UK.
Of course it warranted a second visit. I only wish we had more time to visit again and again. Not only was this the best experience of a restaurant we had in Italy, it was also my favourite experience in general in Italy. This is the Italy that I wanted to see. La Familia. To walk in as a customer, but leave feeling part of the family.
I hope that we get the chance to revisit again sometime. To the family that own the restaurant, thank you, if you are ever in Scotland - please get in touch!
