Came on the restaurant by chance - poor signage. Starters came quickly but main course took a long time to come. We were in no particular hurry and were enjoying the view so it didn't really bother us but other customers were getting very frustrated due to the long wait.We did enjoy our lunch.

We visited The Anchorage after hearing many good things about it. With it being early ish in the season we were unsure as to whether it would be open but were pleased to find it was. The place is airy and the decor lends a spacious feel. We sat at a window table overlooking the harbour/jetty and ordered from the menu and specials board. The food arrived in good time and was of a good standard, the staff were courteous and attentive although we did get the impression they were new and eager to please. We later found out it was their first day open this year and indeed the staff were new. The only downside to our visit were the people on the next table to us who seemed hellbent on complaining even before any food had arrived. Anyone would think they were eating at a Michelin starred restaurant the way they grumbled, we couldnt help but smile when they actually complained at being given to much food... I really feel for the business owners and staff when confronted by such people.

Stopped off for lunch here a few days ago. Restaurant wasn't busy when we arrived, but filled up while we were there.
What we had was nothing special, but nonetheless very tasty and well presented.
I had the whitebait, the others had the salt and pepper squid, prawn sandwich and avocado blt. The avocado could have done with being a bit more ripe, but that's all.
With a few coffees, all in all a pleasant lunch.
South Harris seems to have fewer and fewer places to stop for a drink and a bite to eat, long may The Anchorage continue.

I had pie and that was nice enough, friend I was with had scallops and said they were lovely and fresh but not seasoned. No prawns available. We waited almost 50 minutes for the food, and when we asked how long it would be we were told they were very busy, despite it being only about one third full. Waiters didn't seem overly bothered. Nice location, shame about the rest.
