I have just joined TA & thought I should really shout about this place as we love so much!
We have stayed here 3 or is it 4 times now?!?! I can remember but that doesn't matter as this is takes you away from everything. We first stayed in the Deben Barn when this was the only barn which had a hot tub!
(Gosh that was a long, long time ago & now there are 5 Barns with hot tubs!!)
On arrival Carl greeted us in person which was lovely. He showed us to the Deben Barn where we were staying and showed us how to use the Hot Tub, wood burner, under floor heating, key safe etc. There is an information pack provided which has every thing you need to know during your stay.
Carl also provides a fresh local produce breakfast basket containing eggs, tomatoes, bread, mushrooms, apples, oranges, lemons, marmalade/jam and in the fridge was milk, bacon & butter. Carl also provided us with hand made cookies which was nice to have with a cuppa after our journey & not forgetting our dog Rocky had a biscuit....AND there is more!
Tea/coffee/Sugar, foil, cling film, some cleaning products, toilet roll, shower gel, shampoo, hand wash, towels (and extra towels & slippers for the hot tub) its all provided so know one should have to worry about bringing all that with them during you stay....just a suit case and of course your pooch if you have one...or borrow one !!
At Woodfarm Barns there are recycling bins, a little shed with books, dvds, extra towels for you to use for your dog when it rains, extra wood (at a cost) for your wood burner and bikes to use for free! If the weather permits their is a lovley pond where you can sit and have an evening drink and soak up the quite surounding.
OR after a long walk light the candles, put a bottle of Champas in the wine cooler & jump into the hot tub.... ta da... you have a romantic setting.
We have also stayed in the Gipping Barn several times during the summer and we had a Christmas weekend break which we loved as the barn had its Christmas decorations up.
So much has changed over the years and Carl keeps going from strength to strength......
There are 'Woodfarm Barns' reusable coffee cups, 'Woof-Farm Meadow' a large field for your dogs to run around with a shelter to sit in when it starts raining!
If you fancied staying somewhere really different Carl also has two amazing Dutch Barges with all the usual touches.
This is a great Dog Friendly accommodation which I know is very hard to find these days. Our dog 'Rocky' loved it and Carl provides so much for them. They get some treats of their own on arrival, dog poo bags, water bowls and a fresh water tap outside, extra towels if you need them, Woof-farm Meadow is down the road so you can exercise your dog.
There is lots to see/eat and drink far too many to mention. There are also some great beaches to walk your dog (please remember that during spring/summer I think May-September on some beaches you can only walk your dog on selected area's)
This is a great place to stay if you want a romantic/dog friendly get away OR to just get away from it all. Its great to celebrate Birthdays, Wedding Anniversary or any type of celebration. BUT if you are thinking of going you need to book quick as they get booked up very quickly.
If you are celebrating a special occasion or you need anything don't hesitate in calling Carl, he is more than happy to help you with any enquiries you have.
Thanks Carl for creating a little piece of 'Heaven'
Have just got back from our first stay here , from the 23rd till the 26th of March , as we pulled into the carpark was greeted by such a lovely setting of the barns and the sound of the pond , Carl came over to meet us both and showed us around Orwell barn and he is such a friendly guy and made us really welcome , the welcome hamper in the kitchen was full of great produce ready for our breakfast in the morning , and the treats for our dogs Maisie and poppy made it extra special ,the barn had everything we needed and more , and the mezzanine bedroom looking out the velux window to the lovely view was special, the exposed beams and log burner was superb and we lit the burner on our last night , and was so cosy , we found some nice walks to take our two dogs on , and the walk over to Stonham barns was a spot on enabling us to have a cheeky beer or two then to walk back run the dogs in the meadow , then straight in the hot tub to unwind , it is great to find somewhere where we can bring our two dogs and not have to put them in the kennels, we found 3 places to eat ,one called the crown in denington ,and one called the Victoria in Earl Soham ,and one called the crown in Framlingham all dog friendly and all served lovely food , then to come back to the barn and unwind , was a shame to come home but we will definitely be back
This is our fourth time staying at Woodfarm Barns, we have previously stayed at the Deben barn & the Gipping Barn twice. This time we had decided to try something new and stayed in the Alde Barn. We had also decided to stay for 6 nights rather than our normal 4.
Well what can I say, Carl manages to pull out the stops every time we stay. Upon arrival we were greeted by Carl (even though he had not long flown home from Thailand) to show us around the Alde Barn! He was very pleasant and welcoming as always.
The Alde Barn is absolutely beautiful, it has lovely heated floors which are preset upon arrival to provide you with the perfect temperature during the day and night. Sometimes we found ourselves sitting on the floor, not because we were cold but just because it was so lovely and warm! (You don't even need slippers!!) The bathroom was filled with lovely toiletries, shower caps and enough loo roll for our stay! The shower in the bathroom was beautiful, it was a large headed shower with plenty of hot water to go around! The barn has a mezzanine bedroom which overlooks the lounge area, with the ceilings being lovely and high. The bed was so comfortable, the mattress was perfect and Carl added a mattress topper too which provided us with extra comfort! We had a lovely nights sleep every night. The barn is fitted with a fridge with a small freezer, a cooker, microwave, a coffee machine and a toaster. We found that we had every kitchen utensil that you could ask for, baking trays, condiments and washing up items. Everything you needed was there. The lounge area has a lovely wood burner, we didn't use it much but only because I'm useless and keeping them alight! We used it on our first night and it was beautiful and so relaxing. Finally, we loved the garden. This was the biggest we've had when staying at Woodfarm and our Border Collie loved exploring every inch of it whilst we were in the hot tub!!! The hot tub was also very luxourious, it was very large compared to our previous stays, and it had extra jets! The normal massage jets but also jets that allow cold air to pump through which was lovely, especially after walking 10 miles a day!!
Woof-Farm Meadow, what a brilliant idea! Buddy absolutely loved exploring, trying out the agility course and continuously chasing his ball. It's so lovely knowing that he can explore without having to keep an eye on him every step of the way! The field is fully enclosed with no harm to dogs! It was perfect!
We love to explore Suffolk with our Border Collie and we do really recommend Woodfarm Barns, it's a perfect place to go back to and relax in the tub after walking lots in the day. There are lots of shops which are just a drive away, Carl and his team prepare a lovely breakfast basket for you upon arrival with bread, bacon, milk, tomatoes, mushrooms, fruit and butter. Buddy was also welcomed with some lovely treats, which he absolutely loved!
Thank you again Carl and team for a lovely stay at Woodfarm, we come every year for my birthday and every year it is perfect. See you again next year, hopefully sooner if we can!
Natalie, Lucas & Buddy x
Me and my partner stayed in Alde Barn for 9 nights in February for my 30th.
The barn is beautiful, warm, perfectly decorated and has everything you need for your stay plus more.
There’s a fantastic shed full of hundreds of DVDs, books, brochures for the local area and ideas for places to visit and bikes you can take out.
The private hot tub was in constant use by us and even though we had all the weather, sun, wind, rain and snow, we could pop in and out at any time as it’s under cover and positioned perfectly to avoid weather issues. The secluded garden is great, the barns are next to each other but positioned well for privacy.
The barn was warm (something we’ve had issues with before with under floor heating) and cosy and Carl has really gone the extra mile to add finishing touches that make all the difference. The breakfast basket was an added bonus! Even the garden is well thought out with grass, stone area with seats and table. The hot tub area has lighting, candles, ice bucket (ice ready in the freezer), plastic wine glasses for use in the hot tub, a little table and he provides towels, long warm dressing gowns and disposable slippers for your 10 foot walk from front door to hot tub.
Carl was lovely and insisted on staying up to greet us despite us not arriving until almost 11pm - there is a key code box but he came to meet us and show us around and how things worked which was much appreciated! As we were staying so long he said to just let him know if we wanted fresh towels or the bedding changed at any point.
Although he lives just across from the barns and is on hand for any issues, he’s not at all intrusive and left us to it. We had an issue with the hot water tap one day and he was over within minutes to sort it - must say this was caused by tampering of the previous people staying and no fault of the barn.
Carl really has got this place spot on and has just celebrated 300 5 star reviews and I can see why.
After years of going on hot tub holidays, I’ve never loved somewhere quite as much and rarely go back to the same place again. We will be going again and I can’t recommend this place more!
We actually only live about 35 mins away but due to snow causing our Berlin flights to be cancelled and not wishing to give up on a weekend of celebrations, I tried my luck at Woodfarm Barns in hope that someone else's misfortune could be our fortune. Carl was welcoming and friendly throughout our stay. We ended up staying in the farm house which was more than enough space for us and plenty of space for the 7+ it is intended for. Goodie pack of breakfast things upon our arrival. We had a technical hic-cup with the oven and Carl was over in a shot to sort out (turned out to only be a dial tampered with by a previous renter). Lovely feel to the house and a layout to the downstairs which would allow for you to escape each other for some 'me time' if you so wished (sometimes useful when you have several families staying together). Small fenced garden which will keep your kids and dogs safe. Fenced field opposite to let your dog run around. Plenty to do within a cycle or drive away. We did have expectations of being able to do a snowy walk to a local pub and although we did do this I wouldn't call where we walked local (5.5miles) but was only £10 in a cab back. Took a look around a couple of the barns whilst we were there and you wouldn't be disappointed if you chose to stay in one. Again, they each had a fenced garden (bigger than the farm house). The only reason for the 4 star and not a 5 is the dog friendly pub/restaurant walking distance. If you plan to spend evenings by the fire sipping bottles of wine, have a designated driver amongst you, or don't mind the taxi fare this won't be a problem.
