“Fabulous, perfect beach house!”
Reviewed 17 August 2017 for a stay in August 2017

Eleuthera is a place to go for complete, total relaxation. This gorgeous villa is the place to stay when you want solitude and a care free vacation. All the ammenities are here. The kitchen is fully equiped to please any chef. Sharpest knives and wonderful Webber grill made cooking a breeze.
We honestly have never stayed in a beach rental that is so immaculate! No rust and everything is provided.
We spent lots of time at the beautiful pink sand beach and on the beach deck watching the clouds and waves for hours. There are about 135 beaches on Eleuthera and we tried to see quite a few but we were happiest hanging out at Waters Edge!
The owners have a great library with lots of info on the island. We also got complete info upon renting. We didn't read the most important page, directions....but the owner was very helpful with all our last minute emails. Thank you, Jim and Holly for sharing you wonderful getaway. You've put so much love and effort in...and it shows!
I hope we'll be back soon.

Thank you very much for such a nice review. Our caretakers Ada, Nora and Doyle work very hard to keep the house and property clean and comfortable. Our goal has always been to exceed our guests expectations. The best reward is to receive feedback such as yours. Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience.

“Comfortable House on a Beautiful Beach”
Reviewed 1 December 2016 for a stay in November 2016

We visited Water's Edge in November - 2 couples each with a 9-10 month old baby. It was perfect for us! The beach just down the stairs was excellent for playing in the sand and snorkeling when the water was calm (about half the visit it was too rough for good snorkeling) and walking for miles in either direction hardly seeing anyone. Absolutely beautiful. A quick 10 minute drive across the island to Ten Bay Beach on the Caribbean side was a great alternative when the water was rough or to watch the sunset. We explored other beaches on the island as well (Lighthouse Beach was especially amazing) and have much more to see on our next visit!

Jim and Holly were super nice and helpful, as were the caretakers Ada and Doyle. Ada cooked a delicious dinner for us the last night we were there. They also arranged our rental car, which belonged to their son-in-law. This was especially great when we got a flat tire on our last morning and they fixed it straight-away so we could get to the airport on time (it's still island time, so always give yourself some extra!).

The house has everything you need - spices, bags, great kitchen utensils, etc. We didn't bring our own food (already so much stuff traveling with two babies!), and it was expensive but we found everything we needed at the local stores in Governor's Harbor. We cooked most meals at the house but ate out at Mate and Jenny's (really tasty pizza!) and Buccaneer's Club (tasty but a bit expensive like everything on the island!).

I would highly recommend Water's Edge. Get ready to relax and enjoy your own island paradise!

“Disconnect and Enjoy Life in Paradise”
Reviewed 12 August 2015 for a stay in June 2015

I cannot say enough about how amazing the island of Eleuthera was. I purposefully waited a few weeks after my return to write this review in order to allow time to reflect on the highlights properly. If you are like me and would like to get away from your 60 hour work weeks, never disconnected, nose in your iphone, daily routine and enjoy time with the ones you love most, then this island is for you!

Further, if you want a beautiful, centrally located home, with all the comforts and needs of your own home, for which you can start your daily adventures, then Waters Edge is for you!!! I can honestly say that as an avid traveler, the experience that Jim and Holly provided was second to none, and the caretakers Doyle and Ada were fantastic! My wife and I are adventurous, but like all parents we were slightly nervous to travel with 2 small children. Eleuthera proved to be less stressful than some of our other caribbean explorations and we felt safe throughout the entire trip. In fact, everyone we met on the island was extremely friendly and helpful, and they take great pride in their island... it was a bit of culture shock upon return to the US after being around such friendly people for a week.

A few quick tips for first time Eleuthera travelers:

The home has everything you NEED and more, but please take up many travelers' suggestions to pack and import your own meats and dry goods. You will save a lot of money and avoid "island time" service at an overpriced restaurant which may cut into your snorkeling time.

Bring sun block and bug spray with you. In reading some other reviews of Eleuthera some vacationers seem to be caught off guard by the fact that there are bugs when the sun goes down... The Waters Edge owners did a fantastic job of preparing us for this. We spent hours enjoying the stars from the beach deck, and other than a few small bites where we missed the bug spray, this was not something that detracted from the wonderful stay.

The island has over 100 beaches, and it felt like each one was more beautiful than the next. If we saw 6 other people on a single beach throughout the day, it was a "busy day" with most days having our family of 4 in total seclusion. We snorkeled with stingrays, batfish, groupers, pufferfish and more. The best snorkeling was just steps outside of the villas door with ample reefs and tidal pools that our 7 and 9 year old boys spent hours exploring! We even got to see return visits from a nurse shark here!

As stated above I highly recommend cooking your own food on the propane grill the villa offers, but the new French Leave Harbor restaurant was an excellent choice for culinary delights and a stunning sunset view. Mate & Jenny's was a great option for a quick pizza on our day of arrival with friendly service. Tippy's is a fun location with good food, but we found the service and price to be disappointments.

Rent an SUV or 4 wheel drive vehicle if you like an adventure. There is only one main highway that runs the entire length of the island so it's nearly impossible to get lost. Take a day and visit Preacher's Cave on the north of the island, and take some food/drinks so that you can enjoy the beach there before driving back over the glass window bridge. Or drive off the beaten path and bring your own hammock to string up between 2 trees for total relaxation on Ten Bay after finding dozens of perfect sand dollars.

Thank you, Jim and Holly for sharing your wonderful home with our family! I look forward to returning to the house, hopefully for a more extended stay so that we can explore more of the island!

Boy oh boy. Great house (yes really!). We loved it, the location was great, quiet but not too far from anything and the views! It was the kind of place I would leave for guests. So often you stay in places where it's bare bones, not here. Holly and Jim were a pleasure to deal with and had great tips. We twice had dinner at the little market that Holly recommended (didn't think we'd need to or we would have asked Doyle's wife Ada). We asked what was still open and the super-nice lady made us grouper and salad - Deelish! Speaking of Doyle- great guy. We rented a little SUV from him that conked out. I called to tell him right then (we were going out to dinner) and without being asked he had a replacement car in the driveway in less than 10 minutes! Loved, loved, loved the people of Eleuthera! We really didn't need to bring any food, and the only 1/2bad experience we had was Tippy's Restaurant. On the other hand; be sure and spend time at the Sky Beach Club Bistro - excellent spot! The beaches are excellent and it's really cool to have the super calm Caribbean and the rough and tumble Atlantic both available. We can't wait to go back to Eleuthera!

“A True Getaway”

Just returned from a week's stay in this home located on the island of Eleuthra in North Palmetto Point. My husband and I, along with our 16 year old and a 10 year old truly had a fun and enjoyable time, walking the beach, snorkelling and exploring the island. The area is quite remote and without any large resorts on the island, feels somewhat untouched. It is very quiet and for someone with a busy life and demanding job, it was a place to get away from it all and relax. We pretty much had the beach to ourselves, only meeting one other couple on the beach, 4 days after we arrived. The house was lovely and comfortable and we could not have asked for better hosts, who made sure the fridge was stocked with the essentials when we arrived and who also made reservations for us at a local favourite restaurant our first night. We went in search of other beaches around the island, and it became a laugh as everytime we asked for directions it was always "3 miles up the road". When we did come across the beaches, the beauty was unmatched and again we saw very few people. This was truly a memorable and adventuous vacation for my family and we hope to return. Just a note that driving is on the left hand side.
