Great little hotel straight on the beach

4.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed 8 Nov 2014via mobile
We were two couples and stated six nights in the Tslay beachfront room. Our rooms were huge. I had to request that the bed be fitted with two quilts asit was very hard. After that I slept well. Bathroom could have been a little cleaner but was a good size. TV had a good selection of English channels BBC etc. yes the gardens desperately need an overhaul and the grounds could have been cleaned abit more but it was low season and I think things slow down. We rented bikes from the guy across the road. The staff were great. Food is excellent. We didn't have a bad meal. Overall we enjoyed our stay.

The rooms are simple and nice and have a good view and you can hear the ocean all day.

The fish ponds around the rooms are a nice idea, but need at least a minimum up keeping. The plants are in poor condition and I would like to take this opportunity to again suggest that the administration should advise the staff NOT TO WASH THE MOPS AND BUCKETS WITH DIRTY WATER AND DETERGENT ON THE FISH PONDS THAT SURROUND THE ROOMS. The water in the pond is dirty, the fish clearly suffer and are often gasping for air at the surface.

There are far better and nicer locations on the island. It's not easy to find any place to eat within reasonable walking distance and I strongly advise to you to book a car.

You need to get through 2 ferries to get here from Krabi and you should count on the possibility that one of them has problems. We had to wait 7 hours in the car for one of the ferries to be repaired.

Care should be taken with reservations of motorbikes at the hotel. The prices are considerably higher than in other places and there's no help at all in case you need it (we had a puncture), you are completely on your own without any help or advise other than "You fix it" from the manager.

We had the whole beach to ourselves most of the time. It tends to accumulate lots or dirt and if you're looking to clear waters, you should book an excursion to nearby islands or remain at the pool.

Strolls on the beach reveal an ugly backside to the line of "hotels" that follow the this short stretch of coastline. The worst slums of Bangkok would provide a better view.

Room tip: There were a couple of electrical poles making a considerable amount of noise and sparkes. Avoid being close to them.

This hotel was wonderful, and at a price that cannot be better. The food was delicious and well varied...we tried almost all the dishes in the menu. The breakfast was very well provisioned, too. I particularly enjoyed the banana pancakes.

Staff was extremely friendly and helpful. They loved playing with my two year old daughter.

The pool was great, too...but to be honest, we didn't use it much, since we had such a great beach right in front of us...great location for beautiful sunsets. We were actually sad to leave the last day..I wished we could have stayed longer.

The only down side is that it is a little far to get to from the Krabi airport...but that has nothing to do with hotel, but rather with Koh Lanta itself.

I am truly shocked by the negative reviews. We stayed in June of 2014 and had a wonderful experience- we extended our stay by an extra night. The rooms are well cleaned and spacious with great views. Other reviewers have mentioned the beach is littered and the pool had sand in it, but that is because you are staying during monsoon season! The high winds and huge waves wash garbage onto the beach and the winds can blow (a very minimal amount) of sand into the pool. However, even though we stayed during monsoon season, at a very discounted rate I might add, the grounds were still kept clean and the pool was spotless. The staff was incredibly sweet and the thai food in the restaurant was the best we had on the entire island.
We have stayed in 5 star resorts, and this is not the same level of service or facilities as those, but it is certainly not a 5 star pricepoint either. It is the perfect place to relax and kick back on this very chill island for a reasonable price, great staff, and amazing food.

Can't believe I spent two weeks there.
Terrible place in Koh Lanta. At first abot good things. There is only one good thing. The beach. Or it;s better to say seeview. Nothing else!
    Now what I didn't like:
    1. Ruptured sunshades.
    2. Dust in the pool. The water is dirty.
    3. The service in the restaurant! Just imagine, that the waiter brings you empty cup. Then he see a fly in the cup. He takes out this fly by his finger anfd that's it.
    4. Dirty beach. After every tide you can see many interesting things on the beach: boots, garbage, plastic bottles. Nobody cares. Why? Because of access and recess of the sea.
    5. Spa. My wife decided to go to spa. She came to that small building and.... pregnant woman decided to have a rest on the floor. She was a massagist. A plate with some food of course was on the floor not far from her. She was sleeping. My wife decided not to disturb her.
    6. Air-condition blows correctly in your head. Nothing helps, because it's hot outside even at night.
    7. TV! I couldn't find tv channel without let of hindrance. And another interesting thing. There was movie on channel nuber 6. But sombedy decided, that I don't need to watch it and he (or she) switched this channel to football. No comments.
    8. Motorbike in the hotel costs 450 bath. In 20 meters from the hotel you can take it for 200.
    9. Transfer from/to the hotel (minibus costs 2500 bath. In 20 meters from the hotel it is 300 bath per person.
    10. They have menu with differnet kinds of breakfast, but you can't use it. For 2 weeks I had only one choice: not fresh juice, omlet, nescafe, jughurt and some fruits. That's it!
    11. Sunbed is too heavy. If you are not Shwarzenegger, just forget about it. You can't move it.
    12. See some photos and you'll understand everything. And forget about this place.

Room tip: Don't go there! But if you can't leave without this hotel, room with seaview is better.

We stayed here for 8 nights with our 2 year old son. It was perfect. The beach was amazing, and most of the time you felt like you had it all to yourself. Swimming pool is great for little ones and couples, with sea views, and amazing sunsets. It is a quiet spot, with plenty of restaurants along the beach where we dined most nights.
We stayed in a beachfront villa, and the room was very comfortable, with plenty of room, and a great large bathroom. The room was of a very high standard. Rooms were cleaned every day, and the staff were always friendly and helpful. Very hot weather in April, but rooms were always cool with aircon and relaxing.
Only negative is the external areas could use a little bit of care and attention to keeping tidy, and perhaps improve the restaurant and decking areas to make it more appealing.
The resort does not have much in the way of facilities, and the restaurant was always quiet (April), however we preferred to venture along the beach for lunch and dinner. There is little to do here but relax and eat and drink, which was a perfect holiday for us. Highly recommend Lunch or dinner at Sri Lanta, Baan Peak Mai, Cook Kai. We have been to so many places in Thailand, and Koh Lanta is our favourite, it was paradise. We would stay here again.

Room tip: Beach front villas are worth the extra $$ very quiet, private with uninterrupted views of the sea. Huge rooms, very high standard.
