We stayed at Le Cerisier this summer with our two children (6 yrs & 3 yrs) It was a return visit having enjoyed a wonderful stay in July 2016. The gite is spacious and beautifully furnished. The owners Sue & Simon are so welcoming and my children adored their friendly dog Sherlock. The pool on site is perfect & not easy persuading our children to get out! We enjoyed day trips to the aquarium in La Rochelle alongside family bike rides and lazy beach days on Ile de Re. We have a great fondness for Le Cerisier & hope to return again soon!
Just an hours drive from the airport at La Rochelle to this wonderful oasis of calm. Sue and Simon were, as always, friendly and extremely helpful...the perfect hosts.
We were there during a heatwave and the lovely pool was a lifesaver.
There is a lot to see and do in the area and this proved the ideal base.
Looking forward to our next visit.
Thank you for a wonderfully relaxing holiday at Le Cerisier. The gite and is surrounds were beautiful and perfect for our children ages 3 and 5. There were plenty of places to visit within an hour away. The Ile de Re and La Rochelle are definitely worth a visit. The pool was a big hit with the children and the safety gate is a reassuring bonus for the parents! Thank you for being such helpful and welcoming hosts. We would love to return!
We stayed at Le Cerisier in July with our two young children (5 & 2 yrs). After a rather long car journey it was wonderful to be greeted with such a warm welcome from the gite owners Sue & Simon. They were both so friendly and welcoming which made our stay more relaxing. The gite was simply stunning. Beautifully French chic with gorgeous furniture and decor. It is very spacious too and my two children LOVED having their own bedroom...particularly my daughter in her first double bed! It is very well kitted out for young families with high chairs, plastic crockery, travel bed guards, black out blinds, and even a box of toys which mine loved!
The gite is located in a lovely peaceful location with bedroom views over the cornfields. My husband enjoyed daily trips to the local boulangerie for croissants & baguettes! The local intermarche is also a short drive away where we stocked up on all food/drink essentials. We enjoyed day trips out & about to the local zoo, La Rochelle, and family bike rides on Ile de Re. The gite pool was fantastic and even after our day trips out & about we thoroughly enjoyed a late afternoon dip!
My kids loved playing in the garden too and giving Sherlock & Watson (Sue & Simon's furry friends!) a lot of attention! The evenings were simply bliss. Once our kids were tucked up in bed, we sat outside enjoying bbqs & lots of French wine! I've never had such a relaxing week with two young children! We fell in love with both the gite and location, so much so, that we are very excited to be returning next summer!
Le Cerisier is a tranquil place in a sleepy village in rural France. If that is what you are looking for this is for you. The Gites are beautiful, the pool is warm and while we were there for 2 weeks in July, the sun was shining. We had and amazing holiday. The hosts Sue and Simon were super friendly, helpful and made some killer Rhubarb Gin, (which we have stolen the recipe for). We were traveling with 4 adults and 3 young children and it suited us perfectly. Everything you needed was provided for, even baby sitting, catering and massage : )
La Rochelle itself is a 35-45 min drive and easily accessible, even with 3 kids in tow. We also visited cognac, which was a 30 min drive and a great day out. Super market etc were a 10 min drive, super easy. I would not question to recommend this place to anyone. In fact we may well be back very soon.
