Review of Sailom Hotel

Beachfront so that was great. Enjoyed the fact that it's away from busy Hua Hin town - only takes 30 mins or so to walk either on the pathway or on the beach to the town and there's Tuk Tuks (taxis) available to take you back for 150 Baht. The rooms were cleaned every day and fresh towels every morning with free (good quality) toiletries every day. 2 x bottles of fresh water were provided daily too which is a treat... This hotel is from the 70's so if you're looking for modern go somewhere else. However if you're looking for charm then stay here. 2 pools were great - we only used the big one in the afternoons after spending the morning on the beach. Hotel arranged taxis for us too (to Bangkok) so that was very helpful. Staff are helpful but unobtrusive. Location is great too (right across the street from Blueport Mall and 7/11's nearby too - you won't be stuck for places to buy things)...

Rare, beach front property with small occupancy so none of the usual holiday hordes. It’s an older facility but has very well thought of details. Breakfast was good and substantial but note that we are Asian and love Thai food. There was a selection of bread, cereal, bacon, salad and eggs for the more western taste. 5 minute walk to Blu Port mall where there is a great selection of restaurants and food stalls to choose from and a grocery that has awesome Thai souvenirs. Also very close to the Vana Nava water park. Would definitely stay here again if we visit Hua Hin in the future.

Cons: As mentioned in the other reviews, the walls are not soundproof so if you happen to have noisy neighbors and are a light sleeper, this may be an issue for you. We slept quite soundly. If you get a standard room, your window faces the neighboring property. Bed is also quite stiff.

We decided to stay one night here based on reasonable reviews with a view to extending our stay if we liked it... we kept it to one night!

From the outset we found the (what we assumed by her demeanour) senior front of house staff member pushy and abrupt. If you can, hire a cab/taxi on the main road and barter as you’ll get a much better deal. Same for laundry... we paid five times more than what we’d been accustomed to elsewhere.

Our room itself was reasonably clean but clearly was past its prime... the fixtures and decor had seen better days. The common areas, such as, pools and restaurant also looked tired and dated.

On the plus side, the hotel has good beach access. Unfortunately it wasn’t safe to swim due to the large number of jellyfish. Instead we spent our evening at the neighbouring Marrakesh, having a couple of pleasant drinks and some dinner on their lawn area, watching the sunset.

The hotel breakfast the next day was disappointing. We were served pineapple juice that was off and the breakfast options uninspiring.

We were advised by locals to spend a few days at Hua Hin rather than Koh Samui due to the rainy season. To be honest, we couldn’t wait to move on from the hotel and Hua Hin intself. The latter seems to attract a particular demographic that’s not us. The Artist’s Village was a nice afternoon trip but other than that there wasn’t much that made us want to stay longer. Also, whilst Hua Hin looks about two hours from Bangkok on the map, factor in your travel plans that by coach/bus or minivan it will take you around four hours.

Stayed here 1 night in room 301 and 302 had 2 adults and 5 kids. Very quiet and peaceful hotel. Yes a bit dated but very worth the stay. We loved the dinner and breakfast the next morning. If you negotiate on the beach you can rent jet ski and inflatable pull behind for 2,500 baht. 1 hour of use. ( we did 30 min each). Beach towels are free downstairs watch for jellyfish. I’ll definitely stay here again. There are 2 pools on premise. This hotel sits about 10km from the night market.

first time staying at this hotel. Stayed for 4 nights.
it's an old establishment and definitely not a posh one. Still i find it value for money.

Pros
1. good location. It's right across BluPort, the shopping mall
2. spacious room and very comfy beds.
3. To my surprise, it has plenty of cable TV channels (more than 60 channels)...including various sports channels, It's much better than so many 5-star hotels
4. Friendly staff

Please note that the breakfast is relatively very basic.
I wish they would clean the pool more often....not that I found it dirty but there were quite a lot of flowers and leaves floating every time I used the pool in the late afternoon.

For people who tend to stay in Hua Hin for a longer period of time and don't want to stay in a 5-star hotel all the time, I would recommend this hotel for a change as it is conveniently located and inexpensive.
