“A wonderfull getaway full of rural charm”
Reviewed 30 June 2014 for a stay in June 2014

We have just returned from a wonderfull week spent at Le Pigeonairre.

We chose the location as we wanted to escape the rat race and enjoy rural France.

The photos really don't do this cottage justice. Attached to a lovely chateau owned by the hospitable and friendly Len and Liz, the cottage is decorated to a high standard in keeping with its age but with modern conveniences. For those with children the reasonably fast broadband and UK satellite feed (all UK terrestial channels) are a nice touch.

The location may not be everyones first choice due to the distance from the airport but we would recomend the effort. The 2 hour drive from Bordeaux is worth it (Recomend staying in Bordeaux for a night beforehand, great city) You have peace and tranquility and the run of the chateau grounds which include a spacious sun facing garden with a pool. The pool is cleaned daily and although not heated kept a good temperature well into the evening.

Locally there is a supermarket, regular farmers markets and bars within ten minutes drive. We also went further afield and had day trips to both the pyrenees and the beach. For these trips the owners will provide you with coolboxes and parasols if requested, another nice touch.

We will be rerturning in future, much more to explore!!

We stayed in the pigeonnier for a lovely week, exploring the immediate area as well as further afield to the Pyrenees and the atlantic coast. The facilities were excellent, with the property being very well equipped. The gardens and pool were excellent too. The owners, Len and Liz, were extremely affable, friendly and keen to help us have the perfect holiday, as well as wonderful cooks. The welcome pack they provided was particularly generous. Would highly recommend and would not hesitate in returning if we were ever in that part of the world again.

“magnifique”
Reviewed 20 January 2014 for a stay in October 2013

apologies for our delay in reviewing le pigeonnaire at chateau coye. we have only just finished a long break in south west france and we stayed at chateau coye as our main base in aquitaine.
we were delighted with the quality of our accommodation and surroundings. our hosts, Elizabeth, len [and wizard the dog] were genuinely welcoming and we felt at home immediately. the facilities are first class, and the surrounding area is beautiful. you can explore mountains, rivers and lakes or vineyards, fortified bastides, chic Biarritz and pau or authentic market towns which are all near by. if you prefer not to venture out, the chateau grounds are stunning and well kept, and the pool is fab when you need to cool off. we will definitely be returning.

“We actually stayed in the Chateau”
Reviewed 22 September 2013 for a stay in September 2013

This is my second trip to Chateau Coye - I took my daughter this time and we actually stayed in the chateau as The Pigeonner was occupied. We had a beautiful little suite in the tower with sitting area, 2 bedrooms and shower room. The food was sublime, plentiful and varied with local influences. We were still able to use the pool, despite the weather being changeable. Liz and Len Selby are excellent hosts who really enjoy sharing the delights of their gorgeous home.

“A Great Escpae”
Reviewed 18 June 2013 for a stay in June 2013

If you want to get away from it all Chateau Coye is for you. It is in a marvellous location, extensive grounds surrounded by agricultural land, the only sounds coming from the local wildlife. The Pigeonnaire was already booked by a lovely Dutch couple so we spent 3 nights in the Chateau. It was a real treat. The house is full of character and is lovingly cared for by the owners Liz and Len. We stayed in the Champagne Room which was huge and tastefully decorated with quality furnishings. The ensuite bathroom had rolltop bath and plenty of hot water. The swimming pool area has views across the surrounding countryside. On a clear day you can see the Pyrenees. There are plenty of opportunities for alfresco dining. You do need a car if you want to explore the area but if you just want to relax and unwind look no further.
