We stayed at the cottage in September 2020 for the weekend. From the outside the cottage looked delightful with the lovely colourful hanging baskets. Since we were not allowed to check in until after 4pm it was a late afternoon this was due to the “extra cleaning” required, upon entering we were yet to find any evidence of this. The cottage itself didn’t smell very fresh or that it had been cleaned very well. In the kitchen we cleaned the surfaces down with an antibacterial wipes to find the wipe came up black. When we went to use the cafetière there was stale water with stains in the bottom. We booked the use of the high chair for our 6 month old daughter but when we opened the high chair up it looked very grubby and had seen better days with brown straps (which used to be white I presume) and a very grubby seat. The whole thing needed chucking away not suitable for use. There was thick cobwebs hanging down from the lamps and radiators in most of the rooms and the skirting-boards were all dusty. There was no soap or hand sanitizers had we know we would have happily brought our own but we thought with the current situation there would be at least a bottle or bar of soap. There was empty soap wrappers in the bathroom cupboards as well. The pillows on each room had also seen better days, with no pillow protectors fitted they all had yellow stains from use and the mattress in each room had no protection and also stained heavily. The curtains in one one of the bedrooms had a very unpleasant odour which perfumed the room. When sleeping in the night we could here scratching above us presumably mice or something running around in the loft. Overall for the price of the property and the currant situation we were all very disappointed with the property and have no inclination to stay again. We did take photos but cant seem to upload them to this review.
