“A fantastic holday!”
Reviewed 22 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We loved Oak Cottage, it had a quaint cosy feeling about it, very adequately equipped and supplied with panscrubs, dishcloths, non slip mat in the shower, and other essentials.
Situated in a quiet peaceful area, with lovely views. We enjoyed being visited each day by the free range hens! Loved the large bath sheets provided.
Wendy and Nigel were there to welcome us, and were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed meeting their three dogs, the cats and especially Reggie their new puppy who was adorable.
My favourite areas were the lovely private courtyard and the beautiful lake with waterlilies and loads of damse flies and dragonflies. Sounds of the countryside and perfect peace!
A fabulous holday!

Liked best: The courtyard and peaceful environment.

“3rd stay - that says it all!”
Reviewed 8 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Where to begin? This is our third stay at Oak Cottage and once again we had a wonderful time.

The cottage was as clean and tidy as it was before and the towels are plentiful which is always a bonus.

Loving the new addition of an oven in the kitchen although we had mastered the induction hob on our last trip ;)

The washing machine comes in very handy and it is kept clean, the washing line just round the corner is in direct sunlight so on a good day the washing gets dry quick, there is also an airer in the cottage - everything has been thought of.

The setting is so tranquil & we did lots of walking every day, even coming back by torchlight (end of August, nights drawing in) and the big street lamp out the front of the cottages is a handy but unobtrusive light, we also left the lamp on in the living room.

Twitchers - this place is perfect, buzzards, kites, numerous finches, swallows & lots of birds I am unsure the name of.

We will be back :)

Kara, thank you for returning to Oak cottage again and for your kind review. I hope you all enjoyed the honey from our bee hives. As you have noticed over your 3 visits we do endeavour to maintain the cottages to a high standard and to keep improving them over time. We hope to put in a new larger garden for Oak cottage over the winter and possibly a games room and hot tub. We look forward to welcoming you back in the future, always a pleasure, Nigel and Wendy

“A little TLC needed”
Reviewed 17 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Looking forward to staying in one of two cottages. The adjoining cottage was Hop cottage.
On our arrival we were greeted by the owner who was very pleasant.
Unfortunately first impressions were a little disappointing. The surrounding gardens, patio area were all overgrown with LOTS of weeds. Iron patio table and chairs were rusted. Small BBQ ( uncleaned , therefore not fit to use unless you cleaned it first ).
Inside was superficially clean but on closer inspection upstairs was quite dusty with what seemed to be quite a few cobwebs.
1 shower (NO bath ) very little water pressure , therefore a very weak flow ( no good if like me you have a thick head of hair trying to wash the soap out !! ).
You will need to take a very good pan scourer with you ( as the pans are not none stick as the hob is a conduction hob x2 rings only) and food sticks.. However a good working clean oven.
The cottages are situated in very lovely part of kent, on average a half hour drive away from Canterbury. The Cathedral is well worth a visit.
Ashford is also a half hour drive away, with a bowling Alley and a Great Designer Shopping outlet ( £1 for 4 hrs parking ).

Thank you for your review, we are sorry that you found a number of things not to your liking. We will take immediate action to remedy the points that you mentioned, a new set of pans has been purchased today and our gardener will clear the offending weeds, the table and chairs have been replaced. We will review our cleaning but have never had a complaint about the cleanliness of our cottages in the past.

A warm welcome, from the host and the farm animals! Everything you need in the chalet including washing machine and hairdryer. Great location in the countryside, with local pub, farmshop and convenient to all the best of Kent and Canterbury area. Cottage is getting a bit worn and dated, clean but too many cobwebs and dust upstairs. A lovely stay all the same.

“Wonderful tranquil setting and beautiful cottage”
Reviewed 10 November 2015 for a stay in October 2015

We had a warm welcome when arriving at Oak Cottage and not just by the chickens who were wandering across the long drive. The cottage had everything we needed and we used the lack of oven as an excuse to eat out or buy easy cook teas. The bedrooms were very spacious and full of lovely beams and the view from the main bedroom was beautiful. The out houses looked a bit scruffy but I think that was just the time of year meaning the kitchen garden wasn't at its best. I'd love to come back in the summer and try out the swimming lake. It took less than half an hour to get to Canterbury and we were also able to explore Kingswood.
