overrated, rooms look tired needs refurbishment, some staff need additional training in being more friendly. not worth the rates charged if it was not a castle I would rate it an average 4*. the plus is the location the estate setting the fishing and the golf course.

Dark, deary and uncomfortable atmosphere. Miserable looking staff that dont know how to smile. Management are even worse, full of self importance and in no way helpful. Mark Nolan thinks that he is too important to deal with petty customers ! If you have a problem with you room / service or just looking for directions staff make you feel like you are being difficult. I would not reccomend this hotel. NO ATMOSPHERE. AWFUL.

From the moment I arrived to the moment I departed , it was 5star all the way. The amin restaurant was quite superb, all staff we encountered were friendly and professional. My only complaint was the golf course was very difficult, I lost 11 balls.
Well done everybody in Dromoland.

my fiance and i treated ourselves to a pre-wedding break, before all the madness began... booked the 3 nights for 2 package that they currently have going at the moment...we both really enjoyed our stay at Dromoland. we were upgraded upon arrival to an executive room in the tower which was lovely, as it meant we stayed in the Castle and not the new part of the hotel. the breakfast food is top notch and your given a lot of choice. We had dinner there on the last night and the food was delicious, my fiance got the steak and he said it was the best steak he has ever had, which is a huge compliment coming from him. We did quite a few activities on the estate, bike riding, archery (which was a good laugh), boat rowing, we also got them to organise horse back riding, which honestly was the best horseback riding experience, not that it was bad it is just that; it is not on the Dromoland Estate which is disappointing as it would have been nice to explore the estate more, the pace was very slow i would have enjoyed it much better if the pace had been faster and lastly where the horseback riding occurred it wasn't particularly the nicest scenary i've every seen, but it was ok, just not great. Overall we had a great time, it is very expensive though, but a special treat it is well worth it
