We stayed at Dromoland Castle for the last 3 nights of our 10 day holiday in Ireland. We originally planned on staying 1 night but luckily were able to book a special for families for 3 nights. The hotel was beautiful. We stayed in the newer wing in a large room with 2 queen beds. We also arranged for a roll away bed too. Our room was lovely, but more of a modern luxury hotel than a castle. The older part of the building was more like a castle. The things that impressed us the most were the grounds, facilities and the wonderful staff. The grounds are beautiful and there are many activities that are offered free of charge like complimentary bikes, pitch & putt, boats, etc. We also used the Leisure Facility. Be aware that they require swim caps that you can buy there, but are 5 euros each. Probably the most impressive part of our stay was the service and wonderful, caring attitude of all of the staff. Each staff member went above and beyond to assist us with everything from restaurant recommendations, getting our car from valet parking, suggestions on things to do, arranging for bikes, etc.

After touring real castels in Ieland I am happy to not have to spend the night in one. This is a country club golf course hotel that has some roots as a real castel but now is a 5 star hotel. You can take a bike ride or row a boat on the lake for no charge. The hotel also offers things like skeet shooting and Falconry for a fee.

The hotel is close to a real castel, the Bunratty castel, which is a nice half day trip. all in all very nice,

The minute you drive through the gates, you enter another world, a great location to totally switch off and relax. We stayed for 3 nights and have to say we didn't want to leave. The location is picture perfect, with the views of the lakes and wonderful walks around the surrounding parkland.
The service was excellent and staff were friendly and welcoming.
You are spoilt for choice with the breakfast and the meal we had one evening in the dining room was delicious.
There wasn't one part of the stay that we didn't enjoy and we would highly recommend staying here. We hope to be back sometime soon.

We recently jetted away to Dromoland Castle in Co Clare. From the moment we arrived it was truely breathtaking. There is a golf course on site which was challenging enough but the views were amazing overlooking the lake. The restaurant is set in elegent splendor and the decoration is in keeping with the traditional castle elegance. Their wine list is as heavy as bible with so many wines to choose from. We had a six course meal which really was delicous however it was a little on the pricey side. The following night we dined in the golf club restaurant which had bistro style steaks etc. Lovely portions and slightly easier on the pocket.
Overall if you're looking for somewhere to completely switch off and relax I really reccomend Dromoland.

We just returned from staying at the Dromoland Castle for a few days at the end of two weeks in Ireland. Simply said, it was an amazing experience. This is the most beautiful place we have ever stayed at. With that said, it is not cheap. We paid the equivalent of $570 per night, but the experience was great. Breakfast and dinner for one night was included, so the price tag all things considered was not bad. The staff were friendly and attentive without being "stuffy," which can be the case sometimes at nicer properties. John, one of the bell men, was great. He retrieved our car a few times and refused a tip from me, that just doesn't happen. He was polite and helpful as were all of the staff.

Do yourself a favor, if you can swing the price tag, stay at the Dromoland Castle. You will not regret it.
