Really liked playing at Ballybunion. Was looking forward to one of the 'old three' on our SW Ireland golf tour.

Left with a mixed feeling - great links layout...but felt like they had tweaked it a bit too much inthe recent 'upgrade'. Unlike Waterville or Lahinch, this old links has a 'fresh' feel...a bit of a resort feel (like Doonbeg).

Would play again (if ever given another chance) - but would go Lahinch as my favorite of the three 'originals'.

Played ballybunion old course and found it to be in good shape. Greens are slow because they have been relayed recently. Worth a visit.

Ballybunion is the #1 ranked course in Ireland and it did not disappoint! The weather was one of the best days of their year (according to our caddies). Despite this being a very old course they continue to update and upgrade the course. The clubhouse design doesn't really fit a course of this stature but the Guiness in the bar tasted great after the round.

It is normally windy on this coast, it is just a matter of how windy!
We had a nice lunch in the clubhouse before we played, the course is extremely challenging in all conditions with lots of long grass and pot bunkers. Many greens are either high up or well guarded. Not a place for the infirm as the undulations are severe especially when wet!
You will know you have played after your round!

We played Ballybunion. The course is challenging, and the views from some of the holes are beautiful. The course was booked solid so it was a busy day. We did feel the course was not in the best condition. They should provide divit mix for the golfers as there were a lot of digits on the course...more than most. There are some very tough holes. If you don't hit o to the green, you can kiss your ball goodbye as it is very tough to find it in the rough. There is little room for error with your shots on some holes,

The starter and Rangers were really friendly and did their best to help you enjoy your experience.

The clubhouse was very nice.

We would enjoy playing this course again.
