Macnamara and Sons is a small Irish Pub and is located inside of Bunratty Castle and Folk Park. This castle is located in County Clare about 8 miles east of the town of Shannon and about 139 miles west of Dublin, Ireland. It is also located on the banks of the Ratty River in the small village of Bunratty.

I ate lunch here with my wife and daughter on a Thursday afternoon in late May and thought my food was tasty and the bartender was very friendly. I enjoyed talking to him. We were hungry and luckily stumbled upon this small little pub. They do not have paper menus so you have to order off the chalk board menu by the front door. I ordered a ham sandwich and a bowl of seafood chowder and really enjoyed them. The sandwich was just your basic sandwich but the chowder was really tasty (it was really good). The service was good and the bartender was very friendly. To order you have to walk up to the bar and order as they do not have servers. The table next to us got mad that no one took their order so they got up in a huff and walked out.

Overall I enjoyed my lunch at Macnamara and Sons and recommend it. If I ever visit Bunratty Castle again I will definitely eat here again.

We were walking around the Bunratty Castle grounds and came upon this little pub. What a joy! Stopped in for a bit of whiskey before going to the castle feast. Tony, the bartender, was so friendly and knowledgeable!

The fireplace was most welcoming on that cool, rainy day. Pub hostess was pleasant and was more than willing to chat with us about Bunratty. They were taking down all the Xmas decorations and from what I saw, this is a place to take the children for Christmas.
