“Great place to stay”
Reviewed 12 May 2018 for a stay in April 2018

Great place to stay, far enough out of town to not hear traffic noise, but central enough to do day trips to various attractions. Fantastic to be able to cook and dowashing etc.

“Nice house, but not as advertised”

The house is situated in a lovely garden setting, and is comfortable and very pleasant. However it was not as advertised- no WiFi/ internet access, not 4 bedrooms/ 6 bathrooms as advertised, ( has 3 bedrooms, but only 2 that we could access, and 2 bathrooms). We had difficulty over several months in getting directions to the property and details on how to access the house, and could not get into the property on arrival, or contact the owner He was.reluctant to provide us with towels, although it was advertised as having all linen provided, and he eventually told us we could have the towel he had been using that was currently in the washing machine. It was apparent that the owner was actually living in the house at the time of our arrival, and the remains of his lunch and his clothing/ effects were scattered around the house. We understood that we were renting the whole house, but he initially refused to provide bedding for more than one room. ( if we had wanted a one bedroom house we would have rented one).. The central heating was not working and the dryer was broken, and no apparent attempts were made to fix them during our stay. The owner told us he did not like our attitude, when we asked for bedding for a second bed, (I have a disability and need to sleep in a separate bed), and told us if we didn't like what he was offering we could go elsewhere ( this on a bank holiday weekend and no mention of a refund, when we had booked and totally paid for the cottage some 8 months previously). We have rented properties around the world over the past 15 years of international travel, and this was honestly the most unpleasant experience we have ever encountered on arrival at a rental.
That said, it is a very pleasant house, the gardens are very attractive, and the property is close to various attractions, but definitely not as advertised, especially in relation to what facilities are provided. I would recommend it to others with reservations.
