We actually stayed in the B&B next door for 6 days also owned by Imelda. She is a brilliant host, great cook and couldn't be more helpful. After visiting this part of the world ( with only my Sister ) for the first time, we will be going back in a larger family group and will utilise both the B&B and the self catering facilities. We travelled to Kenmare, Killarney Lakes, Ring of Beara, Ring of Kerry all easily accessible from Glengarriff. The Garinish Island ferry is a two minute walk from your accomadation and is an experience not to miss. tropical gardens and breathtaking views and one of the best 4 hour blocks we experienced. The people in the village are so warm and welcoming, and as I had heard how expensive Ireland was from people who had visited Dublin, I was amazed at how much value for money there was this far south. top marks for the guest house, the people, the views / scenery and the location for getting out and seeing and doing so much. I have travelled extensively ( 4 or 5 times a year ) over the past 10 years, inc USA, Europe Oz, and Africa, and this is by far the nicest place I have seen. ( If you are short on time, if you do the ring of Beara you don't need to do the ring of Kerry as although a smaller route, the ring of Beara views are breathtaking. If travelling to Killarney, you pass through Kenmare, ( 3 options to Killarney ) go straight on through the high street then left at the junction and the view of the lakes is amazing.
