“Best vacation ever”
Reviewed 4 October 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We stayed only two nights at the Cedar Boathouse, but it was by fast our favourite stop on trip through Irland. Unique place, with unique a host who provided us with great advises and help. The house is suitable for big families but also for a couple to have a romantic stay together. I can highly recommend to everyone!

“Great house with a great view”
Reviewed 3 October 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stopped here to take some wedding photos in the area. The location of the house is absolutely perfect and the hosts are amazing! Would definitely recommend for exploring the scenery or Ireland.

“Genuinely lovely, very welcoming hosts. Fantastic, quiet, beautiful location in unspoily Cork.”
Reviewed 3 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

We would highly recommend!

The Boathouse has everything you could need. The views are amazing, the peace/tranquility is perfect. We visited in September and had some lovely weather, with a storm overnight. The Boathouse is a good location for all weathers with doors opening out onto a deck to enjoy the view in summer, and log burning stove and very warm home for the winter evenings.

Richard and Yvonne went above and beyond to make us feel welcome and ensure we got the most out of our trip. From the first warm, friendly confirmation email, to a thoughtful message checking we were ok on arrival at Cork Airport. They were always available for a quick question on restaurants, things to do and were a wealth of local knowledge.

We were looking to find an area in West Cork to buy a home, and Richard coached on the different villages, even sending us links to some great houses to view!

Nothing was too much trouble, they were the perfect hosts and most considerate neighbours. They generously shared their dogs and cat (frequent and very welcome visitors to the Boathouse!) and even bought over a home baked pie that their three adorable daughters had cooked one evening.

We will be back :-)

“Fantastic break in beautiful Baltimore”
Reviewed 2 October 2016 for a stay in July 2016

We stayed in the Cedar House for 3 nights with our daughters aged 4, 1 and 3 months. From the outset, Richard was a pleasure to deal with and a great communicator. He and Yvonne were really welcoming hosts, they gave us lots of tips for fun things to do during the day and also had our 4 year old over to play with their girls on several occasions which gave us a nice break! They had the house all set up for the kids, providing cots, a changing mat, a baby bouncer, a high chair and a baby bath which was brilliant. We would definitely stay there again if we were going back to Baltimore and have already recommended it to all our friends!

“Amazing family holiday!”
Reviewed 1 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

e had an amazing time at Yvonne and Richard's place - we can't get our 2-year-old daughter to stop talking about it! Richard was very communicative before our stay, and when we arrived he welcomed us with one of his daughters providing our daughter with some DVDs to watch. Our daughter was the invited into their garden to play on the trampoline and swings while the parents unpacked... It really couldn't have been a warmer welcome! The boathouse itself is a really lovely space. Great kitchen with essentials such as oil, salt, pepper, washing up liquid etc. Nice sleeping area upstairs - big double bed for the parents and our daughter had her very own big cot with a pillow etc What we liked best of all though (and what makes this place stand out of the crowd as far as we're concerned) is all the little extra touches that Yvonne & Richard put in to make our stay really enjoyable. For example, Richard loaned us a big pushchair that was great for the walking out in the country and on the beach, etc (we'd only brought our stroller), and also a big baby carrier if we'd wanted to use that instead. The fact that our daughter was invited to play in their house & garden was brilliant too, as well been thoughtfully loaned some babies and baby pushchairs to play with, etc. We also enjoyed the fairy walk in the garden, and saying hello to their two dogs and two cats.. For the adults there is a wine-swap so if you feel like a bottle then just go to the cupboard and replace it the next day :-) Also a bunch of games to play such as Cluedo, Journey through Europe... The area itself is also beautiful - the boathouse is up on a hill so be prepared for a windy drive up from the village (it's totally worth it though!). It just means that you get a real sense of getting away from it all. Baltimore is a nice little place with some great restaurants, we got the ferry to Sherkin Island and ate at the Islander's Rest who make a mean seafood chowder.. Overall we couldn't be happier with our stay, it was a real family welcome to a quiet and peaceful place that it still within easy reach of so many things to see and do. Many thanks to Yvonne, Richard & their daughters. Maybe our daughter will stop talking about it one day :-)
