“Historic site”

Dunboy Castle is really a ruin where the O'sullivan clan unsuccessfully tried to defend their ancestral grounds from the invading British. Not a lot remains. However, the views from the fortress grounds are spectacular, so well worth the walk or drive off the main road. Signage is poor so you may need to ask for directions. We nearly passed it up, but spotted the castle-like gate house to the Puxley Mansion. We were able to ask a local and he confirmed it was Dunboy site. The Puxley Mansion was apparently being fixed up as luxury hotel but funds ran out so gates surround the property.
