I found Hagal Farm through a friend who recommended it when when she was living in Ireland and I am so glad I listened ! It was raining and foggy when we arrived so we couldn't really walk around in the gardens but we had the most delicious dinner prepared by Fred. And I'll admit we were very skeptical because of it being vegetarian but it was so good! The massages by Janny are also a must ! And the beautiful relaxation room upstairs with the huge windows is a wonderful place to read or just relax. Our room was cozy and had radiant floor heating. Overall we loved this place and the owners! Definitely worth it :)

Hi callan & Anthony, We enjoyed your company and liked the way you took, the challenges that rural West Cork was throwing at you, in your stride!! You know where to find us when you're back in Ireland! 'May the road rise to meet you' ;) Fred & janny

When visiting the Hagal you get a feeling a immediate peace and tranquility it's a wonderful rustic farmhouse with comfortable rooms warm open fire in the main living room a beautiful conservatory where you can have breakfast a beautiful relaxation room with a stunning view of the valley along with the option of using the sauna having treatments such as massage . I can honestly say I have never had a better massage than the one with Janny she's incredible her and Fred have years of experience in holistic therapies including Reiki and many others to choose from and Fred being an incredible chef using organic produce to create food for the soul soups breads fresh scones every morning and home made jams . The gardens are out of this world tucked on the mountainside Janny and Fred have created a magical wonderland which our children loved complete with a beautiful tree swing in the woods and a fun labyrinth .it was a fantastic place to hide away one evening Fred lit a fire and we and the children sat around and enjoyed . To be honest it's hard to write a review as one runs the risk of telling people about ithis hidden gem that it'll be hard to get a booking It's our new place as a family to rest and revive in the company of the wonderful Janny and Fred . We will be back thank you for everything .

We stayed in the main house over the weekend. At first we thought it was really quaint and quirky in an old fashioned farm house way but realised quickly that it was in desperate need of a deep clean. The downstairs bedroom was really damp, so much that the bedding was wet. The bath had no plug we had to use the kitchen sink plug. The upstairs shower room was covered in mould and the kitchen was terrible. Only one working burner on the hob. We had to clean the surfaces before we prepared any food. We would have liked tonne but the bbq looked like it hadn't been cleaned ever so we ate out. Lastly bedrooms weren't as described, considering the cost it's not acceptable to put matteresses on the floor and call them beds.

Hi Caroline,
We are sincerely sorry that your stay was not optimal and hope you accept our apologies.
We, Fred & Janny Wieler, were not in charge of Hagal Farm at the time of your visit , but are back now and made a ' fresh' start!
Hopefully you can see from all the previous reviews from visitors to our place, that your experience was not shared by others. The 'deep clean' is done and we hope that you will give Hagal Farm another chance! If you do so we will offer you a generous discount!
Warm regards,
Janny Wieler.

Tucked away hinterland of Bantry Bay, Hagal Farm is the ideal get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Hosts, Jan and Fred, welcome you with genuine warmth and hospitality, making every effort to ensure that each guest receives the physical and emotional rejuvenation they come and seek. The house offers common creature comforts with a cosy lounge and open fireplace, comfy bed and homemade scones and jam. Treatment from Jan's healing hands and Fred's delicious, nourishing cuisine are the perfect way to regenerate and refresh the mind and body. A fantastic getaway! Highly recommended.

We have just spent 3 nights at Hagal Farm and we had a wonderful time there. We were warmly welcomed and made to feel at home straight away. We had our own ensuite room but also the use of a great kitchen and amazing lounge with beautiful views. Hagal Farm is a beautiful, peaceful, relaxing place to spent a few days or longer. Our hosts, Fred and Janny made us feel as if we had known them for ages. The food was excellent... home made sweet jam, delicious scones, out of this world scrambled eggs.... and more... fresh, tasty and flavoursome..... And, the opportunity to book a delicious evening meal...a very talented chef. There is a fascinating area around the farm of what looks like a tropical rainforest, sneaky paths through amazing shrubbery and stunning views from some parts of the garden on clear days. We would highly recommend this place, especially if you are interested in somewhere a bit different. It's a haven amongst the hills and well worth a visit. It's not a hotel but a bnb with extras.
