We stayed here for 3 nights in June 2011 in Roman’s Room Junior Suite.

This is a wonderful and special place to stay. The house is very well maintained with some modern decor which works very well. Bedrooms and living areas are very comfortable with a great feeling of space. Beds are fantastic and should ensure a great nights sleep.

Dinner was very good, good simple ingredients done well. The same goes for breakfast. We enjoyed the company of the other guests.

Gardens are nice for a stroll or there is also some good hiking nearby

Staff at all times were friendly and exceptionally helpful

Highly recommended, it has the potential to be one of the great places to stay in Ireland

Arrived for a wedding nearby and the experience was great, time stood still and yes, not a hotel or a bed and breakfast; more like your own country house and gardens. Monica was a delight and nothing was too much for Arthur, the GM... Loved the shared breakfast and chit chat with other guests....

My husband and I stayed at Liss Ard with our two small boys for four nights last week and all had a wonderful time.

The house is beautiful, the gardens more so. There are boats to take out on the lake, bikes to ride down to the boats, big rooms with roaring fires for adults to relax in and big rooms with big boxes of lego for children to play with.

The food is excellent: cooked breakfasts and a host of other options, and delicious dinners - for us and the 4 & 2 year olds.

The staff were charming, relaxed, and helpful - providing meals at odd times, advice on local beaches and other places to visit, etc.

We felt totally at home - though sadly home isn't half so spacious or luxurious - and can't recommend a stay here highly enough.

Room Tip: We stayed in the O'Donovan Suite - it was perfect.

My family stayed at Liss Ard Estates for nearly a week. We had an incredible time. The staff are superb and the location, house and food were absolutely perfect. I really could not say enough great comments. If you are looking for a stunning location, a relaxing atmosphere with lovely dinners - stay here. We also took advantage of the babysitter service one night and it worked very well. The person who runs the estate is named Arthur and he is so nice and accommodating it is nearly hard to believe! We will be back for sure. Oh and the fact that the property sits on 200 acres of gorgeously manicured gardens and lakes does not hurt at all either.

Room Tip: If you are traveling with a baby I would suggest staying in the country house as you can escape to t...

Just spend 3 wonderful days at Liss Ard Estate with our family, 2 adults and 3 children under 6. Like another reviewer, we didn't quite know what to expect up to the point of arrival but our minds were quickly put at ease. Firstly this isn't a hotel, its more like a very upmarket guest house with extras such as a kids club, well equipped playrooms, super grounds and gardens to stroll or bike around (bikes provided). The staff were great, Arthur, Monica, Cathy, Clionadh and Aoife couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was pleasant, nothing seemed to be too much trouble. The house itself is beautifuly done, really airy and bright with two great reception rooms, a couple of decent sized playrooms which are well equipped with lego, boardgames, Wii etc., and a really nice dining room. I think the main house has 6 or 7 bedrooms so it will never be overrun with people - there is additional accomodation in the mews which adjoin the main house so they are in close proximity to the facilities. We stayed in the Romans Suite which had a great bathroom - massive sunken bath with a view out over the grounds. Ours was one of the bigger rooms and had plenty space for ourselves, our two younger children (who slept on a very comfy double mattress) plus a baby cot - we still had ample room to walk about. Rooms are well equipped with flatscreen TV, tea and coffee facilities, etc. and the beds/pillows are really comfy. Good quality bed linen, towels, bathrobes etc also. The food was really top quality - breakfast and dinner are catered for in the house every day - you had to go outside for lunch (picnic lunches on request only). Dinner for children is offered earlier in evening between 6 and 7 or children can dine with parents. We ate inhouse every evening, really good food for both adults and children. Again this is not a hotel so there are no extensive menus to select from, you eat whatever is being prepared in the kitchen although I am sure they are happy to cater for tastes outside of that if required. Fairly good selection of wines to accompany dinner also. The drawbacks, there really aren't many except that the overall offerings are a little vague - the website lacks clarity in terms of what is included in the room rate and there are no upfront prices on things like wine/dinner etc so it would be worth while to tighten up this end of things but apart from that 10/10 from each of us all around. We're already booked in for our next stay.

Room Tip: Romans Suite has a superb bathroom - worth the long drive!
