The Abbeyglenn does not rank as the best hotel but it is my favorite. The property is charming. Stay two nights and enjoy. Take a walk to the ruins of D'Arcy Castle then return on the road that leads down to the water and back to the hotel. Then drive the appropriately named Sky Road on your way to Connemara National Park where an easy 20-minute hike will treat you to one of the best views that you will find in Ireland.

Room Tip: Request a room in the tower if one is available.

This hotel has it all! A fantastic welcome for the guests, luxurious rooms, gourmet food, plenty of evening entertainment and great craic. This weekend the Easter Bunny made an appearance and gave every guest a delicious chocolate egg! Keeping in the spirit of the 1916 commemorations the owner even presented guests with a copy of the 1916 proclamation!! A lot of thought goes into the finer details and it is very much appreciated. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.

Room Tip: Room 63 was great!

Visited this wonderful hotel late February and had an amazing experience. Loved the old world charm. The staff here pay incredible attention to detail and show a genuine interest in their guests. Tea and homemade scones in the bar were a wonderful surprise as was the complementary champagne and canapes. Really enjoyed the piano man who played in the bar at night and the atmosphere it created among guests. Room was lovely with a beautiful view onto a garden with the sound of flowing water. And with just a short stroll into Clifden town what could be a more perfect place to enjoy a break away from the hustle and bustle of life.

The staff at Abbyglen was absolutely amazing. They made me feel so welcomed and attended to, and it was such a wonderful little get-a-way. The location is great (only a short 5 minute walk from downtown, short drive to Sky Road and Connemara National Park) and it was a beautiful property. The rooms were great with a beautiful view of the creek from the window, and all the accommodations were great.

The location of the castle gave a beautiful view of the quaint town of Clifden. The room was HUGE and had a wonderful coffee and tea service available. I enjoyed walking the 8 minutes it took to go into the town and explore the area and shops. My favorite thing about the Abbeyglen Castle Hotel was the champagne social. Every guest was invited to the lounge for champagne, crackers, brie, and smoked salmon while the owner, Paul, played piano and sang to us guest. I even witnessed a guest come up and sing Danny Boy! The employees were helpful and seemed very happy at the Abbeyglen. Dinner was gourmet and every table had a flag representing their home country. It was a room full of conversation pieces. Also the Abbeyglen had a leprechaun taking pictures with the guests to provide a complimentary photo of the evening. I had a wonderful time traveling to Clifden as well as staying at the Abbeyglen. I will be back some day.
