The food can be much better mid week on a quieter evening that the weekend- that said its always a good standard. It is a tad pricey tho...

Everyone recommended this place, but honestly I was not sure why. It was no cheaper than any other place and the food was not that good. The side dishes were no where near as good as some other places we ate on the trip. The duck I had half good and half bad. The leg meat was wonderful, but the breast skin was not rendered enough and resulted in a tough layer of fat on the top.

As many places in Kinsale you'll find this restaurant very cosy and friendly.
Many locals eat here and the fare is typically Irish.
We both had specials - birth fish. I had mackerel filets and my wife sea trout served with sides of chips and mashed potatoes and peas.
All was fine not much else.
So if you're looking for a typical Irish pub with home cooked food this site place!

We dined here because we were in Kinsale on a Monday night and all of the best rated restaurants were closed. Service was on the slow side. The craft beer selection wasn't bad, but all of the food was average at best. What's the use of a large portion if you don't love what you're eating? It's quite pricey for the quality, and feels like a chain. We would not return.
