I stayed here for just under two weeks with my partner and our dog. We were met at a nearby landmark by a key holder, who we then followed down the lanes to the property. After being welcomed in, shown around and handed the keys (which includes a handy key fob for the electric front gate), we were able to settle in to this well laid out and tastefully decorated property. Although only having one bathroom, it does have two toilets and plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating, so a larger group would be quite comfortable here too. There is space on the drive to easily park at least four cars. There is also plenty of garden space surrounding all sides of the villa, and it is all secure so that children or dogs won’t go walkabouts whilst exploring it all. A large outdoor table and patio overlooks the pool area. Access to the heated pool is easy via gentle steps which can double up as seats, however it should be noted that dogs are not permitted in the pool. There is also a pétanque court. The Wi-Fi was a good speed and reliable throughout our stay.
The only thing which caused us any bother was the electric gate sometimes sticking. Contacting the owners was easy enough though via phone or email, and the housekeeper attended within ten minutes of receiving the message. The owners and house keeper primarily speak French, however the use of utilities such as Google Translate can help overcome any major problems.
The villa is situated around 20 minutes walk (or just a few minutes drive) from the village, which has a large market on Sundays and a selection of bars, cafes, shops and a few takeaways such as pizza. A few extra minutes in the car takes you to more restaurants and a couple of supermarkets.
I’d recommend a stay here and am very likely to return on future visits to the area.
We have just spent a very relaxing 9 days in this gorgeous villa. First impressions were good as we were met and showed around by a lovely lady who was the local contact. She made us and our dog feel very welcome and despite a bit of a language barrier we managed to understand each other during the comprehensive introduction.
During our holiday we gleened the following: the pool is heated and is warm enough to swim in at a pleasant 24-26 degrees.
The villa is very spacious and tastefully furnished and has high quality appliances.
The gardens are maintained to a high standard and are fully enclosed to keep children (& dogs) safe.
The wifi is fast, reliable and the best we have ever used in a rental property.
Bedding and towels are included in the price which is a refreshing change from the increasing number of places which charge extra for these.
The owners are really lovely people and although we never met them in person they sorted out any minor problems we encountered very quickly.
Salernes is a very lively town and even though it's in a central location for easy access to both the beaches and the Gorges, it remains a working town full of locals going about their lives and not a tourist trap, and this adds to its charm. The Sillans-La-Cascade Waterfalls are a short drive away in the next village along the road too.
We had a lovely time here and wouldn't hesitate to book this almost perfect villa again if we return to the area.
