“All you need for a fabulous holiday”
Reviewed 6 September 2015 for a stay in August 2015

We're just back from our week stay in the old coach house. After a lovely welcome from Rosie, and loads of help from Sophie in the neighbouring house, we got settled in. We ordered tesco shopping to be delivered which was a godsend, our 4 year old quickly made friends with the little boy from next door who was also nearly 4, and our one year old was happy chasing the ducks, chickens and rabbit around the yard. Tons of safe outdoor play for the kids. Sand pit, garden toys, football nets with lots of balls, little tykes house, see saw, swings etc....just fantastic, the kids were never in the cottage when we were home from a day out. The cottage is well equipped with everything you could need, but anything missing and you only had to ask, nothing was too much trouble. One downside to our stay with a toddler is the bottom of the staircase was unsuitable to fix a stair gate to....so beware, the stairs were wooden open slat and dangerous for our determined little girl. A couple of dining chairs did the trick but worth bearing in mind.
All the attractions were to hand. We did Alton towers, Drayton manor, hired bikes, carsington water, peak wildlife park, Matlock bath, Ashbourne, dovedale, the steam railway. Lots to do, including visiting family. Plenty family friendly pubs around to eat at.
We would definitely recommend this holiday home as an ideal base for exploring. Thank you to Rosie and family for making our stay a fabulous one

“Cosy and comfortable farm cottage, with friendly owners.”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed here for 12 weeks (April - end of June) while we were house-hunting on our return from NZ, and were given a warm welcome and all the help we needed to get to know the area. The cottage is generally well appointed, warm and cosy, and we enjoyed being close to the farm where we saw calves being born and had many other encounters with wildlife. The High Peak Trail can be accessed from the cottage, as can many other footpaths. Access to the Peak District is excellent, with easy drives to Matlock, Bakewell and Buxton.

There is so much to do in the area that it wouldn't do it justice to try to list it all here. We enjoyed Sunday carvery lunches at the Miners Arms in Carsington, and used their car park as a base for walks around Carsington Water either before or after a drink and/or meal.

The cottage is a bit remote, which may be a good or bad thing for you, so if you want somewhere where you can walk to the village shop for a pint of milk and a paper then this might not be the place for you.

Essential to our stay was good wi-fi so that we could keep an eye on houses for sale, and this proved to be reliable and reasonably fast. Phone signals we patchy on EE, but generally ok on O2. Some fit and finish around the cottage was a little 'rustic'.

Nigel and Rosie were lovely - friendly, welcoming, responsive and helpful, as were the rest of the family.

“Beautiful spot, cosy cottage and perfect base for exploring.”
Reviewed 3 July 2015 for a stay in July 2015

We loved this cottage - everything we needed, cute and cosy with beautiful views. Great spot for exploring and wonderful, warm home to come back to at the end of the day and sit in the private garden with a glass of wine and talk to the cows over the fence! We really appreciated the WiFi, extra TV, comfortable beds and board games for the kids. Thank you to Nigel and Rosie, it was a pleasure to meet you.

“Lovely and warm!”
Reviewed 18 March 2015 for a stay in March 2015

Spring came early this year - the previous weekend to us in fact - but had left by the time we got there, and our weekend break was chilly. The house was lovely and warm with coal and a stove for a snug Saturday night in.
