“Very Good property”
Reviewed 17 September 2015 for a stay in September 2015

An excellent property. I would definitely stay again. We were 2 couples. The cottage was a little small but still good enough. The kitchen was equipped enough that we could cook although there are a lot of places to eat/drink in walking distance. Although the proper is in the centre of Bakewell it is still in a quiet location.

Parking is a problem. We got 1 parking permit but finding space was an issue. Our other car was parked a good walk away to avoid the parking charges.

Our only issue with the proper was that we asked for the twin needed room to be made into a king-size, which it was, but there was no duvet, just the 2 single ones. Such a shame and I hope the owner fixes the problem.

“Lovely little gem of a place”
Reviewed 10 November 2014 for a stay in October 2014

While planning a week away in the Peak District, I was searching for cottages to hire and discovered quite a few to choose from. We chose Bakewell as the base in the end due to it having plenty of amenities but also being a great location both to walk from throughout the peaks, with quick and easy access to the High Peak areas.

Kings Cottage stood out as it looked lovely and the location was right in the middle of the town. Needless to say we were not disappointed at all.

A gorgeous location in a very pretty courtyard that houses little cafes and shops, including a delicious looking chocolate shop, it was quiet and peaceful despite where it was. The cottage itself was very clean, really well stocked and very "homely" feeling. Despite good pictures on here, they don't necessarily show how charming this little place is.

With some good pubs (Try the Peacock - not cheap, but SO worth the money for the food, just make sure you are hungry), cafes and restaurants in the town, it's a perfect base to enjoy a quiet break and/or get out and do some of the great treks or bike rides the area has to offer.

I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place to anyone - just be aware that as in any small towns, parking can be a pain but the supply of a permit with the cottage helps!
