The barn was warm, cosy and tastefully appointed. Tucked away just off the high street in this lovely little village with a choice of pubs on our doorstep plus a bakery and convenience store. We ate at the Farmyard Inn one evening and can highly recommend the liver and bacon and home made beef burgers. With lovely walks on the doorstep and in a perfect location for all the other main attractions I can highly recommend this little gem. The welcome pack, including a bottle of wine was a lovely touch!
We stayed for a week and just did not want to leave at the end of it! It really is a unique cottage and you can see a lot of thought has gone into it.
Ken and Carol are the most wonderful of hosts - generous, knowledgeable and helpful.
We hope we can return some day to this little gem of a cottage!

We stayed in The Barn @ The Old Bakery on the weekend of the great winds! The Barn had everything we needed and is a really unusual building. Lovely and warm to come back to after a day out walking, welcoming after a day out in the rain sight seeing. The kitchen/ living room was well laid out with everything we needed to make a meal and settle down and relax on wet windy nights. The bed was the most comfortable that I have ever slept in and the décor of the bedroom very relaxing, most of all from my side of the bed I fell asleep watching the stars through the Velux window. With very little light pollution in Youlgreave the stars were awesome. The bathroom was small yet perfectly formed and had shower AND bath. All the rooms were very light and airy and everything spotlessly clean. The heating was set just at the correct level, thank you Kean and Carol because so many winter lets are not really warm enough. I brought my hot water bottle just in case but am pleased to report it was not needed. The welcome pack including a bottle of wine was a really nice touch. You are star hosts who deserve a large bouquet and I know when we return to do more walking you will be our first choice.

We stayed in this cottage for three nights and used it as base for exploring the Peak District. The cottage is spacious, clean and really cosy, with everything you need for a self-catered stay. The owners, Ken and Carol, really can't do enough to make you feel welcome and looked-after. The village itself is about 10 minutes in the car from Bakewell and Chatworth House, and about 20 minutes from Matlock Bath, so the location is perfect. There are plenty of walks that you can do from the accommodation itself, too, if you don't fancy taking the car out. We will definitely be coming back!
We have had an excellent few days at The Barn @ The Old Bakery. A very cosy, clean and well equipped accomodation with provisions left by the owners including a bottle of wine which was very thoughtful. Lovely walks from the door and 3 pubs on the doorstep, we tried two of them and the food was excellent. Definitely recommend this property. A**
