This is a lovely B&B near Kerrickfergus in a picturesque country setting. The owner, Mrs.Barron, is like a sweet, considerate grandmother. The rooms are spacious and the breakfast is a home cooked delight.Kerrickfergus is close by. The castle, originally built in 1177, is remarkable and wonderful to tour.

This B&B was outside Carrickfergus - a former farm, now just B&B. It's run by Betty, an elderly lady who was very pleasant and helpful. The room was dated but clean and the bed and shower were fine. The wifi was good, as was the breakfast. We were in an upstairs room that was fine, but our relatives had the accessible room, which was, although clean, rather stale smelling/stuffy (no window) and not suitable for people who did not require the special toilet seat, etc.

Hello WIvebeenthere - thank you for your nice review and glad to hear that you made use of our free wifi and free on-site parking. Actually we are still a working farm though most of the farming is now done by a relative. I'm glad you liked your rooms. All our rooms are independently inspected regularly by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board and maintained to the high standards required for B&B registration within N.Ireland. Room 8 is located downstairs as it functions as a category 2 disabled room allowing guests with mobility issues to enjoy a lovely stay with us too. Although room 8 has no window, due to the physical location of the room, it does have a light funnel specially designed to bring light into the room from the roof as well as a large fully-glassed, fully opening, doubled door entrance from the front yard into the room (allowing easy access). These doors also provide lots of light into the room. Sorry to hear you found the room a bit stuffy on the night of your stay. We have never had reports of 'stuffiness' from the room before (or since) so are unsure what may have caused it during your stay. Had you mentioned it to us at the time we certainly would have resolved it for you at that time. If you ever travel here again then feel free to try us again in the future. Remember that we are also a pet friendly establishment and welcome pets. Kind regards, Betty.

Wanted an out of town traditional B&B at a reasonable price and wasn't disappointed. Starting with great quiet location yet near to Carrick & Belfast with brilliant views that include occasional cruise ships in and out of Belfast, plus free parking outside the farmhouse. A warm welcome from owners and hosts Betty & nephew Billy. We had room 8 which provides for disabled and people with mobility or stair issues. Clean, comfortable twin beds, central heating including electric blankets if you want. TV, Tea & Coffee including biscuit's refilled daily. Large bathroom with plenty of towels, electric shower and complementary shower and hand gels. Now onto breakfast, traditional Irish hospitality from cereals, fruit salad, yogurts to an Ulster fry how you want it ending with toast, soda bread, scots pancakes tea & coffee. All on a busy table that includes jams, marms, honey, milk even sweeteners and toothpicks. There is a communal lounge with large TV and wood burner, plenty of local info. Sceptical at first re the price but very impressed with what you get for your money, looking at their visitor book a popular destination for travellers worldwide. Will definitely book again and say to Betty & Billy thanks and keep up the good work on this gem of a B&B I have found.

Room Tip: Phone or email Betty who will match you a room to your requirements

I wanted to book somewhere a little quieter - away from main road, and with a bit of character and was so please to find this place. Betty was lovely and nothing was any trouble - including when I said that I had to be up early to catch our flight home. The breakfast was hearty and set us up for the day ahead. I hope to return to explore the area further very soon, and when I do, I'll be giving Betty a ring as this is such a lovely place to stay.

We arrived very late and yet they were so kind and gracious. Stayed 1 night and yet I cannot say enough kind things about our hostess and the accommodations. An extremely kind lady, a wonderful breakfast and a great nights sleep. A highly recommend more then 1 evening.
