“A touch of the Good Life”

Cwmcrwth Farm is an idyll tucked away in the sleepy Tywi Valley. Farmer Rob, with all his anecdotes and quiet humour, brings animal husbandry alive for the children. I visited with four kids aged from 5 to 15 and two golden oldies - a good time was had by all! The accommodation is spacious, modern and very well stocked. There's even WiFi available despite being out in the sticks. Fiona was happy to provide us with bacon and sausages for breakfast and the kids were allowed to keep the eggs they collected on the morning rounds. Farmer Rob's pigs, horses, Highland cattle, sheep and chickens were clearly very well looked after and it was very rewarding for the children to be allowed full access to all the enclosures. The two sheep dogs, Meg & Bryn, were not the best listeners, but all the more entertaining for it :). We'd love to come back the next time we're in Wales.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a lovely review. We are so glad you had a good time and the children enjoyed themselves. They will be remembered for being disappointed it was so hot and hoping their stay in Wales was cooler than Dubai! Despite the dry conditions they still managed to find a muddy puddle to play in !! Thank you again for bringing your lovely family to the farm they were all great and the cottages are ideal for family get togethers as you can book more than one cottage. Hope you will come again when you return to Wales to see your family. The photo you sent is delightful and I would love to see some of the others.

“Cwmcrwth Farm - The Coach House”
Reviewed 13 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

Our second visit to Cwmcrwth Farm and again we loved it. Our two girls loved the farm and with Rob's gentle guidance and encouragement they immersed themselves in the relaxed routine of the farm. Fiona is a wonderful host and credit is due to her for the quality of the accommodation offered. You can do as much, or as little as you want. For us all we wanted to immerse ourselves in farming life and we learned so much. From letting the chickens out and collecting fresh eggs, to feeding and mucking out the Sandy & Black pigs. The horses love being brushed and the dogs, Meg and Bryn love the attention they had. This time the girls were also able to bottle feed 2 orphan lambs before turning them out to join the other lambs. The routine is relaxed and Rob and Fiona allowed us to fully interact with the stock on the farm. The animals are very content, which indicates how well looked after they are. We're now planning our next visit to Cwmcrwth in 2014, and also the Junior Farmer course. This time the weather was sunny and warm, but as we come from Wales we know it's only a matter of time before it rains. Just remember to bring Welles and Waterproof leggings/jacket and get stuck in.

So glad you had a great time again and thank you again for choosing to stay at Cwmcrwth Farm. The girls are a pleasure to have at the farm and love to get stuck into anything and it is great to see them gain confidence and develop new skills while they are here. This time they even helped with painting the duck house as well as the usual animal activities! I am sure they would love Junior Farmers and as we are running them at Bank Holiday, Half term and Easter as well as weekends so I hope you can make it. I have pencilled you in for May half term 2014! Looking forward to your visit already.

“Cwmcrwth Farm - The Milking Parlour”
Reviewed 2 June 2013 for a stay in May 2013

This was our second stay at Cwmcrwth Farm in Carmarthenshire. We love the farm, Rob and Fiona are very friendly and welcoming and the farm 'experience' is great. Our teenage daughters love feeding the animals (chickens, pigs, ponies and sheep), collecting eggs and visiting the Highland cattle. The sheepdogs Meg and Bryn are very friendly and love to play and stalk the animals whilst they are being fed. You can join in with the feeding as little or as much as you like.

The Milking Parlour has one double room and two twin bed rooms, one bathroom and one en-suite bathroom. The kitchen is well equipped with a dining table and plenty of room for all.

We were even lucky with the Welsh weather on this trip!

We would all thoroughly recommend a family stay at Cwmcrwth Farm - enjoy!

Thank you for your kind comments and we are so glad you enjoyed your stay. Families of all ages seem to love the farm from feeding animals to pond dipping or just the peace and quiet. Your girls are delightful and sensible so are able to have quite a bit of independence with the animals which they love. Derek and Eddie look so smart from their daily grooming and they love the attention. Thanks for helping to paint the duck house! Looking forward to your next visit in August!

“Junior farmers at Cwmcrwth”
Reviewed 22 May 2013 for a stay in May 2013

The stresses & strains of everyday life seem to melt away as you head into the rolling Carmarthenshire hills to the lovely Cwmcrwth Farm Holiday Cottages. Across wide river plains & undulating hills, views stretch for miles & the tranquillity is calming….
We stayed for the junior farmers long weekend, which delighted all the children on the farm that weekend.
There is no hurry on Cwmcrwth Farm. Children are taught by kindness and not force; to be confident with animals; to respect them but not be scared of them. It suits many children; those who love animals - as there are many jobs to do. Some may be anxious around animals & just need a guiding hand, and some who perhaps need a break from activity city…to take some time out and mellow back into childhood.
Even the more boisterous were seen slumped quietly on the straw by the second afternoon, adoring being so close to the animals & allowing the lambs to sniff & snuggle up with them. The fears of others had been overcome too & the sheer delight of animals coming to them was clear to see.
This is a back to nature, relaxing and bonding stay with animals. Safety is of course important with animals & tasks are carried out under the watchful eye of wonderful hosts Farmer Rob and Farmer Fiona.
Let me not underestimate the gorgeous lunches provided on the junior farmers weekend. This is no plate of sarnies, but a feast of hot home-cooked fare so welcome and delicious after being out all morning in the fresh Welsh air.
The farm is also central to other attractions in the area, so trips out to the beaches, coast, castles, towns, walks and gardens to name a few, are easy.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a comprehensive review and thank you for your kind comments. We are so glad you and the children enjoyed the Junior Farmers weekend. We are getting great feedback on these weekends and hope to extend them further in the school holidays starting from October half term and hopefully through 2014.

There are so many wonderful photos of the children with a smile on their face over the weekend. I hope the girls were not too sad to leave and we hope you come back and visit again soon.
