“An Enjoyable experience”
Reviewed 19 August 2015 for a stay in July 2015

Beautiful property and lovely large garden surrounds with a stream running around the property. Had lots of cutlery, crockery etc and Jean Phillipe was a very interesting and helpful host. Well situated for the wine regions of Beaune and Nuit St Georges. Was a bit of a drive ( 10 mins or so) to shopping but a very peaceful location. Property was excellently presented and fitted the 6 of us very well.

“Excellent location, charming house, friendly owner”

With a toddler in our family, my wife and I now make it a point to stay in homes rather than hotels when we travel. Places like the Moulin de Cussigny reward that decision.

The location, situated about halfway between Nuit-Saint-Georges and Beaune, was excellent, giving us easy access to both towns, as well as the Route des Grand Crus. The house was just as described: nicely decorated inside and more spacious than we realized, while tranquil, unspoiled nature was just outside the door.

We never rent a place expecting to have much interaction with the owner, but we were glad to have some brief conversations with Jean-Phillipe, the owner of this gite. He was very convivial, and beyond helpful. He not only helped us find some dining options, he personally called to make reservations for us.

Our experience was so great that we plan to return in the future, and next time, we hope we can stay even longer. I highly recommend this gite for anyone wishing to get a more intimate look into the beauty of Burgundy.

“Historic charm with all the modern conveniences”
Reviewed 10 July 2015 for a stay in May 2015

If you love wine, food, history and a beautiful setting, look no further. The Moulin exceeded our expectations in all respects. It is both beautiful and functional, having been meticulously restored to provide all the modern conveniences while maintaining its historic charm. We loved that it was a mere 15 minute drive to the center of Beaune, with a shopping complex (huge E.LeClerc store) on the approach to Beaune that we found very convenient for buying staples. We did a lot of cooking in the house, and the kitchen (having suffered a flood last year) is completely new and wonderfully equipped. The Saturday outdoor market in Beaune yielded the fixing for several meals. We occasionally went out (mostly for lunch), and there are many, many fine restaurants nearby.

But the main reason for our stay was to explore the Cote-d'Or and Cote de Beaune and its magnificent vineyards. The Moulin is very well located to take trips out for a full day or just an afternoon. We took advantage of owner Jean-Phillippe LeFils' lifelong knowledge of the area to spend a full day with him tasting wine and visiting with vignerons. (We joked that he is either related to or grew up with everyone in the wine industry!) It was truly the highlight of our stay in Burgundy. It was nice to have him as our neighbor for a friendly chat, to get advice on restaurants and to help when we had some problems with our rented vehicle.

After a day out, it was great to return to the Moulin and either cook dinner, lounge outside in the beautiful garden or watch a little TV. We slept in the absolute silence of its peaceful setting and awoke each morning to the chirping of birds. We can't wait to return.

“Perfect setting for a trip to Burgundy”
Reviewed 5 July 2015 for a stay in April 2015

We stayed with two other couples (and one small child) and this proved to be the ideal base for our trip, perfectly situated between Beaune and Nuits St Georges, but off the main road enough to feel secluded when we wanted.

The cottage and its surroundings are stunning, and Jean Philippe was the perfect host. He went out of his way to make us feel at home - including arranging a lot of our wine tasting tours before we arrived! We will definitely be coming here again on our next visit to the region.

Jean Philippe was a great host and was very responsive to all requests. The house was perfect and the kitchen well equipped. The location as great for day trips into the beautiful Burgundy countryside. Would definitely like to return!
