We had three boats, Grouse, Eagle & Merlin so had a great family holiday, The boats had different layouts. Our boat 'Grouse' was a fairly new and beautiful boat with a great layout inside, the kitchen was ample and I was able to prepare lunch for 13 people every day.
Such a marvellous relaxing holiday and we were so lucky with the weather.
Brecon Beacons is stunning in April, great time to visit.
They explained how to use the boats very quickly and we were on our own in no time. Got stuck more than once, but was always able to get ourselves out of trouble. Locks were no problem, I think if there were just two of us it would have been a bit more difficult, but they were fun and there was always people around to give a helping hand.
We had two small dogs on our boat and another on one of the other boats.
All in all, if you are thinking of using Beacon Park Boats, then don't hesitate and book your boat with them, you wont regret it.
The Monmouth Brecon canal, beautiful scenery, abundant wildlife an absolutely wonderful way to spend a holiday. We were a group of four, mother, father, son and daughter in law.Oh and not forgetting our two jack russells Marley and Pippa. What a special holiday we had.We decided to use Beacon Park Boats, and we were not dissapointed.sheer luxury. we hired the Puffin, which was spacious, very very comfortable and everything you could think of that you would need, right down to every last detail had been thought of.we had two double en suite rooms. The beds were the most comfortable we had ever slept on,also the pillows.the showers were what you would expect in a five star hotel, even shampoo, conditioner and hand soaps.lovely snowy white fluffy towels. everything in the kitchen you could think of. All of us were impressed. The journey was great, taking in six locks, several bridges and an aquaduct.we moored every night where we could stroll to the pub.The Coach and Horses did amazing food, and we were allowed to take the dogs.Crickhowell is a lovely place,as is Brecon.Thankyou Sarah and Alasdair simply delightful people.Tea,coffee and cake provided.secure parking.we will return.
We have just spent a week on a barge and a week in a cottage .
Boats were all of a high quality , we peaked at some of the bigger boats for an idea for a return holiday with family/ friends.
Our boat Heron was beautiful, the best equipped boat that we have ever been on.
Bow thruster was a must as parts of the canal are very narrow and shallow.
Towels, bed linen , every thing was good quality.
Staff at the boat yard were really helpful , even giving us a telephone number so that we could ring a head to see if we could take the dog with us to a restaurant
Week 2 was spent at Incline cottage , again we were accommodated by the owners who arranged for the cottage to be cleaned early so that we did not have to hang around for hours between the end of the boat holiday and the start of the cottage holiday.
The cottage was fabulous, setting was beautiful and very quiet.
Again every thing there was top quality and brilliantly equipped.
Thanks to the owners and all staff for a fabulous break
We will be back
Thoroughly enjoyed our weekend of narrow boating from Crickhowell to Brecon. The weather was sensational, the canal and countryside was beautiful and all on board had a memorable time. Would thoroughly recommend the experience to young and old and the locks were much easier than I thought they would be!
Very professional and well run holiday company. Our boat was "Grouse" a 60ft long custom designed canal boat. It provided two 5ft double beds with an on suite bathroom and additional WC at the stern. It had a seating area and a table plus four chairs for dining. The galley came with all modern accessories and was easy to use. The bonus for me was the bow area which during the day could be used as an open or closed seating place whilst in transit or stopped for lunch. The boat was 8ft 6in wide and only just fitted under some bridges and locks. The scenery was magnificent and wildlife was there in abundance from Llamas to Red Kites. The canal has a few pubs very near to it and some that require a walk. You need to plan each day so you can ensure you have food aboard or have a place to go for dinner. There are also a couple of cafes and even a fish and chip shop not too far from the canal. My only negative comment is that in places the canal is very overgrown which makes it difficult to line up the vessel to get through some bridges. It can also creates difficulties when trying to pass other boats. All in all however a brilliant holiday and even the Welsh weather was at its best.
