“sublime luxury experience within an area of stunning natural beauty”
Reviewed 9 September 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Its not often you discover something unique and special but Beacon Park Boats are definitely this. They have combined magnificently built narrow boats that have excellent craftsmanship and design within a stunning setting on the Monmouth and Brecon canal.

I visited the first weekend of September with my husband, sister, father and dog. We have previously rented narrowboats on other waterways and were keen to try a new location.

The boat has so many wonderful features i have never seen before. Life on a narrow boat can feel a bit basic and cramped however this boat is in another league from any we have seen. The kitchen layout utilises every available space with many clever cupboards. The cooker is like one in your own kitchen. You really can cook anything here. A toaster and microwave assist too.

The beds were so comfortable. Our boat, Kite, had a clever design for the 2 x 4 foot 6 doubles which meant the size was reduced during the day to allow a freeway through the boat. The shower was great too. There are many other features from beautiful wood paneling to sound system and wifi ( intermittent in this area).

This is an area of outstanding beauty. Every bridge looks beautiful. The views over the valleys are amazing. At times its hard to believe you are on a narrow boat looking out on the mountains. The locks are very pretty and easy to negotiate. There are not too many either, just enough. There are a little run of 5 near LLanginydr that are just a joy to operate, even in the rain. This is Wales after all!

We had three nights on board and loved every minute of it. This is a narrow canal so slow is the way to go. If you are in a hurry forget this one. This holiday is all about relaxing and enjoying the surroundings. Waterproofs and good footwear are essential. We had one whole day of rain but this did not spoil it at all. The canopied front deck meant you could still sit out and admire the view. The seats in the rear part meant the driver never felt separated.

Sarah and Alasdair gave us a warm welcome back on Monday showing us the boat they are currently building. All the boats in this fleet are individual. We saw most of them during our journey and all looked amazing.

Thank you Sarah and Alasdair, we had a great time and are still bowled over by your boats. I cannot recommend this holiday enough to anyone. If you have never tried this sort of holiday, this is the one for you. If you have been to other waterways I would urge you to try this one and you will wonder why you have not come here before. It would be difficult for us to go back to previous boats now we have experienced these ones. We will certainly be back for a second visit next year.

“Great way to watch the world go by”
Reviewed 9 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We just had a great week on the Eagle with friends. Boat was really well equipped, prepared and presented. We had mostly good weather and did the recommended leisurely 8 day itinerary. This gave us locks, a tunnel, an aqueduct, more than 70 bridges x2 and 35 x 2 miles of cruising at 2 mph! Between us all we also managed to walk most of the canal to partially offset the home cooking and pub meals and some wine / beer. Tks Beacon Park Boats.

“Perfection!”
Reviewed 30 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

A huge thanks to the owners of Beacon Park Boats for providing the UK and beyond with such a fantastic holiday experience! The boats are stunning, all the staff are very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. Owners Sarah and Alasdair have got this so right and make you feel incredibly welcome. There is everything you could possibly need on the boats even down to a set of waterproofs in case you get caught out in the rain. We didn't even go for a bar meal once as I was so happy cooking and eating on the boat to maximise the whole experience, why sit in a pub when you can take in the fabulous surroundings of your boat and the scenery. As soon as we got off the boat we immediately booked again for next year, we cannot wait to go back. Thanks again Sarah, Alasdair and team for this wonderful opportunity you have given to all who are fortunate enough to stay on your lovely boats! We have already recommended this holiday to family and friends!

“the Bentley of narrowboats, bucolic canal, 5 star service. Wow.”
Reviewed 23 August 2016 for a stay in August 2016

If you've tried the rest and now want the best, this is it. The fit, finish and furnishings in these exclusive, custom-built boats are superb! We loved the cozy gas stove in the lounge, big scenic windows in the gorgeous galley, silky bed linens and, on our boat, a clever bed system across the beam for extra long , full width queen-size beds! Boats are pristinely clean and equipped with everything you didn't even realize you'd want. The Mon & Brec canal itself affords exceptional long views toward mountains and countryside, running through miles of serene, pastoral and wooded areas. Local people walking/biking the tow path and in the shops and pubs are all super friendly. From start to finish, Beacon Park was highly professional, thorough and accommodating: this company is definitely a 'class act' through and through. All I can say is: Be warned, if this is your first narrowboat experience as it will spoil you for all others!
