“Beautiful cottage in an idyllic location”
Reviewed 4 March 2017 for a stay in February 2017

A great modern cottage in a beautiful setting off the beaten track. If its peace and tranquility you require then this is the ideal cottage for you with walks on your doorstep and an abundance of wildlife nearby ( sadly we didn't see any deer ).
A short drive away are many activities and places to visit including The Forest of Dean, Symonds Yat, Monmouth, Ross on Wye and as many castles as you could wish to visit. We had no trouble finding places to eat and drink in nearby villages.
The cottage itself is beautifully furnished and has everything you require, it is well equipped and clean and the beds are so comfortable. The owner Tanya gave us a warm welcome on arrival and the welcome pack was full of useful information and leaflets.
We had a wonderful short break and there was enough to do to keep two teenage girls occupied so I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this cottage.
Thank you Tanya and for the lovely duck eggs

“Perfect setting for a fantastic relaxing break”
Reviewed 15 October 2016 for a stay in September 2016

Bailey Cottage is tucked away in the middle of the forest, lots of stunning walks and wildlife on your doorstep. The owners have put a lot of thought into the accommodation, the bed is very comfortable. Each room is equipped for your every need. The owners make you very welcome and are on hand if you need them. They have horses, ducks, a cat and a bouncy dog who all add to the enjoyment. We felt at home straight away and staying in on a dark night with the wood burner going and a glass of wine was a perfect way to relax. If your into bird watching we managed to see, 18 Goldfinches, Robins, Long Tailed Tits, Great Tits, Blue Tits, Green and Spotted Woodpecker, Nut Hatch, Jay and Buzzards.. We also where very privileged to see a stunning fox at the Wigpool close by. We will go back and feel that any other places we stay now will have a lot to live up to.

“Soooo relaxing.”

What a drive to the cottage after you left the main road as you delved deeper and deeper into the forest. Right away I could feel myself starting to relax.

We were greeted at the cottage by the owner who gave us a quick tour and then left us to chill out and relax.

The cottage is beautifully laid out and very clean and so so quiet. Sitting in the garden was fantastic. Night time too was equally super where you were surrounded in complete darkness due to no 'light pollution'. This was getting better and better in fact the sky was so clear that during the night the meteor showers we were told about were awesome although I did only see two.

Would I recommend this place for a holiday? A big yes jumps out.

The instructions and directions given to the cottage were spot on. Now a word of caution but this in no way has to do with the cottage. It is advisable to have a proper AA / RAC road map or, like us, you'll have fun with the sat nav. Work out where you are going first and if you disagree with the sat nav trust your instincts. It took us two days to work out the the parallel road was better than the directions the sat nav were using.

This is by far and away the best holiday cottage we have stayed in and we would hurry back.

“Little bit of paradise!”

Bailey's Point cottage is set right in the forest itself, so if you are looking for peace and quiet and the beauty of nature this is the place to be. But don't imagine slumming it as the facilities in the cottage are excellent with stylish décor and all mod cons. My husband is usually a fairly early riser in the mornings but on 2 occasions during our week's stay he slept till 10am! Unheard of in our household! There are deer and wild boar in the forest but unfortunately we did not spot any on our visit. However, with a bird feeder outside the back door we were entertained to a great variety of small wild birds which was lovely.
Other areas of the Forest of Dean are easily accessible from the cottage as are Gloucester, Ross, Tewkesbury etc.

The owners who live on site were very welcoming and helpful and provided us with a basket of eggs and a locally made loaf of wholemeal bread.

Unfortunately my mobile company (EE) could not provide a signal at Bailey's Point but my husband's (O2) did.

Liked least: The shower could have done with a wall container to hold shampoo etc and if I am really picky a grab rail as I have a mobility problem.
