Visited Borth y Gest for a long weekend and we were delighted from start to finish at the Bryn Gwyn guest house.
We were welcomed by the owner who couldn't have done more to make our stay enjoyable. As we were shown round the huge 4 bedroom house on arrival the first thing which struck us were the stunning views across Tremadog Bay literally from every room!
The house is ideally located, perched in the hills yet only a stones throw from the sea front and had everything we could need: a BBQ and huge outdoor table and chairs - perfect for an evening beer whilst watching the sun set. A wood burner and luxurious leather sofas in the large lounge with an equally large bay window - the ideal spot to watch the hues of the Snowdonia mountains change throughout the day. A high spec kitchen / diner - perfect for cooking for a large group after a memorable afternoon hiking the mountains. Generously sized bedrooms with more huge windows that let the light and views stream in and very comfortable beds (we all slept very, very well) plus it has decent Wi-Fi too. It really did feel like a home away from home.
Location-wise you can't get much better as there's so much to do in the area that the long weekend felt like a week. It's ideally placed just a mile from Porthmadog so every evening we would take the scenic walk along the hills, past the marina where there are pubs and restaurants galore to explore. Whilst during the day North Wales is your oyster - there are Snowdonia hikes a plenty, a stunning sandy beach is just a short walk away and Portmeirion is next door, it's the perfect base to explore whether you're with a large group or a family - just make sure you take some time to sit back and enjoy those stunning vistas.
Thank you so much Jane, we will be back soon!!
It’s my second visit to the house, both of which I have really enjoyed. The area is amazing, very tranquil, lush and smart looking. The bay always seems to be filled with Oyster Catchers ‘peeping’ away, the place reminds me of child hood trips to the sea side, simple pleasures and lots of fresh area. It really helps that there is no through traffic which keeps things really quite.
The house is fantastic with lots of room and space for groups to gather or just sit and look out of the big windows. The house works really with both big groups or a small family, the rooms are cosy and large but not so large that you feel lost. The first floor bedrooms are great, especially in the morning if it’s sunny, the big windows have big bay views, so very sunny….. It is definitely been one of my favourite places to stay in North Wales as it’s so quiet even with the kids. The house is off the road and up a short hill, which adds to the charm. The local walks are incredibly varied, from short beach strolls, woodland and coastal paths. I can switch off there in minutes. I think I need to book another trip. Pubs in Porthmadog are good too, especially the beer at The Ship, 15 minute walk away.
Had a great long weekend with good friends in this amazing house - cannot wait to go back again. House has everything you need to ensure that guests feel 100% at home.
I stayed here for a weekend with friends, the location is idyllic. The cottage itself has everything that you need, very comfortable and extremely well equipped. The views are breathtaking, I'll definitely visit again.
Stayed here for a weekend with friends. The house is equipped to a very high standard with everything you could need and more. The views are amazing and you could sit and watch all day. Location excellent for lovely walks to the beach or Porthmadog.
