“Gateway to tranquility, history and beauty”
Reviewed 25 March 2015 for a stay in June 2013

We first found Chez Fert in 2012 and returned a year later. Health problems prevented us visiting in 2014 but we hope to return in August this year to continue our love affair with the cottage, the region the food and our hosts, Chris and Barbara.
My wife has serious disabilities which the cottage copes with perfectly. If she wants to have an easy day the gardens are a perfect, beautiful sanctuary. What could be better than reading a book on the sun lounger with the occasional interlude plucking fruit from the trees? And what about when Barbara sends over her lemon drizzle cake or Victoria sponge, freshly baked, to have with the afternoon pot of tea? Have we died and gone to heaven?

On her good days we can explore a beautiful region full of rivers, lakes, forests, medaeval towns and villages with exciting markets overflowing with local wine and produce.
time ahead.

Holidays at Chez Fert are special in every way. The memories of past visits keep us happy through the dark days of winter. The anticipation of returning during the summer to come fills us with excitement and optimism for the year ahead.

“A truly wonderfull location, with excellent hosts”
Reviewed 17 February 2015 for a stay in May 2014

This year was my fourth visit to enjoy the beautifull surrounding area of the Charente, and to spend much time Carp fishing with Chris, who knows all the good lakes, and how to play and land 20+lbs fish.
The gite is very comfortable, and the surrounding gardens just right to spend a lazy day reading or just taking in the view.
The Gite is very comfortable, and quiet, particularly at night, ensuring a really good nights sleep.
Barbara and Chris the hosts go out of their way to ensure you have a really good stay.
