“Beautiful bush setting, more like a holiday park.”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 March 2012

We stopped overnight here on our way from Sydney to Melbourne. It's a beautiful quiet bush setting, about 15 mins drive from the town of Albury. We chose the cheapest room which would fit two adults and two children for our quick stop-over booked online - only about $100. The kids had a fold-out couch. This room was more like an old small holiday park cabin and included free continental breakfast as they are refurbishing. Wasn't really what we were expecting as it was 'All Seasons', but it did the job. There were beautiful peacocks wandering around. Our son was bitten several times by something during the night which we discovered in the morning. We suspect it may have been ants or something in the bed. We had dinner in the restaurant which had a nice view of the lake. There's nowhere else to eat around here unless you bring your own food to BBQ. The restaurant is small and quite nice and the food was great; high quality with average restaurant prices. They had colouring-in for the kids and the restaurant staff were very friendly. We played mini-golf on the very old and overgrown course, but it was still a fun thing to do with the kids. Would stay again as a stop-over.

2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 February 2012

Stayed one night in late January 2012 on the way from Sydney to Adelaide. Originally booked a room in the motel, but on arrival were told we had been "upgraded" (Really? And she said it with a straight face!) to a deluxe cabin. There is no way to sugar-coat it; these cabins are old! Whilst our room had been modernised with air-conditioning, toilet, etc. but the layout didn't allow for a separate shower, which was positioned in the corner of the bedroom!! Also, air conditioner was placed in the living/dining room and guests need to rely on flow-through to cool or heat the bedroom (neither efficient, nor - in our case - effective, with the temperature in the living area needing to reach Antarctic levels before cooling the bedroom).

However, everything was clean and the staff were friendly and helpful.

We didn't eat lunch or dinner in the restaurant, but breakfast was 'basic' with limited packet cereals, bread, tea and coffee available. Given the resort is some way from town, options would be limited without the microwave and fridge in the cabin.

Booked the room at an Accor sale price, so half-price stay: realistically that was OK for a night but would not want to pay rack rate for the room we were in.

Would not return here; next stay in Albury will be at the Rydges - despite being Accor Advantage Plus members.
